I just bought a 08 KLX450R and I need to fix the leak and looking at ron aryers fiche I need 2 oil seals, 2 bearings and 2 gaskets. To all that have done them is that right.

I had mine leak out the weep hole - some coolant

just a small seepage - only lost 1/2 a cup

pulled the cover and then the impeller - only one nut holds it on

under it is the seal for the coolant side

I picked it out and installed the new seal - only $5. part

put back together and all was good

the shaft was perfect - no rust - just a bad seal ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Now my bike was low mileage and no reason to screw with the oil seals as then

you have to remove side case to get the pump shaft out from inside.

Thanks! so you just use a pick to get the first seal out and push in a new one. That's if it's not leaking in to the crankcase.

yes - a pick was all I used - came out fairly easy

if you are leaking into crankcase or have oil leaking out the little hole then you have to

do both seals and might as well do the bearings and look at shaft while you are at it

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

mine started to leak coolant out the little hole at only 3000kms - almost new !

it was a 2008 - purchased new in 2009 - leaked in 2011 - so not very old

the shaft was like new and could not see any reason for leakage so just replaced seal & go

hope you are as lucky
