I have a 2005 CRF250R and love the thing. Its got great power and is probably just right under you're range. I've had it for 2 seasons yet and havent done anything but oil, spark plugs, air filter, and transmission fluid and it still start first kick every time.

That's just some of the bike i thought where decent... Also I've heard that the crf's have very bad valves... but i will still consider them if there cheap and i can get a valve job done. (arent they around 200-300$?)

Thanks!

Heres the thing buying a 250f used, specially a older one is a big gamble, i would look for the one with less hours. Probably a yz250f as well since there known for reliability. I have an 09 crf250r and i havent had any problems but i maintain it extremely well.

Like i said ive had my bike for 2 seasons and havent had a single problem with the valves. I dont ride easy and i ride alot too. Just keep up on oil and air filters and you'll be fine.

Alot of people say that its a gamble but my family has bought 7 used vehicles (The newest being an 05) and havent had any problems with any of them yet.

I've heard good things about the yz's, I have a crf myself and I love it, but I've only had it for 3 months, and its not the easiest to start... but ive heard good things about the yz's, and that one looks pretty nice...

I see everyone talking about yz's and crf's but what about the Kawi's? I've seen several 08-09's for that price range, & I'm actually saving up to get an 09 for $2,750. Theyre apparently just as good & reliable as the yz as long as you keep up with maintenance. Just throwing that out there

So.. crf or yz final question... I'm kinda leaning toward the crf cause I've all ways hand a Honda and they are very reliable... + the crfs are loads cheaper... :smirk:

^ the first two will be way better bikes. 08+ are really improved overall. But its still a really good option

Please pardon the interruption...but I thought when someone put "250f" it meant a 250 fourstroke..? but all the bikes you are talking about are two stroke, so what does 250f mean? Thanks! (and sorry for the thread jack)

All the bike's we are talking about are 4 stroke... 250f means 4 stroke. :smirk:

Like for instance Kx250f The f stands for "Four" so there for its a four stroke.

I would say one of these two. I'm a long time Honda guy and i have an 05 so personally, I would choose that one. They dont have problems as long as you keep up on maintenance(as you should with any bike) The Yamaha also looks like an extremely nice bike. Either way you cant go wrong :smirk:
