08 450 wont idle, need some ideas please

Recommended Posts

So i picked up a 2008 crf450. the bike will only idle if the choke is on. here is what i have done so far, clean the carb(new 45 pilot jet and cleaned the rest of the jets), checked and lubed the the hot start plunger, sprayed around the intake boot with carb clean to check for air leaks, put drain the gas and put fresh in, and none of these changes made a difference. Still runs super lean from idle to 1/4 throttle. and ideas would be apreciated:ride:

It really sounds like the pilot passage is plugged. You may need to just pull the carb off and douche it really well. Compressed air and all.

You may be able to clear it by pulling the fuel screw out and putting the air nozzle up to that hole and blasting through there too.

Drain the bowl first if you decide to try that. You'll have a nice little air space bomb if you dont.
