California Day parking near Jawbone Cyn?

Recommended Posts

Doing a day trip. We will be gone all day trying to get to Kernville and back.

Where is a good safe spot to leave trucks?

The ranger station at the entrance?

Thanks

I've been asked NOT to park in the BLM office lot before (despite the fact that my bike was plated and legal to ride on the pavement).

I'm not sure if it's safe but I park in the Jawbone Station lot(the paved section).

Jawbone BLM station usually dont mind if you park in the paved lot, but there is currently

construction going on there, you can just park across the paved street

nobody will likely mess with your stuff, otherwise you can always ask

the folks at the Jawbone store, they are friendly and can give you

a place to park and let you know when they lock the place up

Another option, I have let people park at my place many times, Im

15 miles south of Jawbone right off HWY14

Its sad this question is even asked, why cant people just leave others stuff alone?

+1

I Staged in the parking lot once early in the morning before anybody was around. When I came back and loaded up, one of the volunteers from inside the office came out and gave me a "friendly warning" that they almost towed my vehicle and not to stage there in the future.

Maybe I'm just the lucky one (???)

I dont know what has changed since my wife worked there for about a year,

She never asked anybody to not park in the lot while she was running the place

Its a public parking lot, unless its signed now (And maybe it is, hell I dont know)

there should be no problem parking there.

We even saw people stage there during FOJ meetings, We just went about our business

I've parked at Jawbone/Dove as a staging spot for all day rides many times. Never had a problem (yet). I guess I've been lucky.

Come on Chad, you know that treatment was just for you. :smirk:

Actually, they asked me not to stage from there a few years back.

This was before I moved to South America, so maybe 2008 or so. I don't ride in that neck of the woods too much any more so have no idea if anything has changed. There were no signs posted at the time, trust me, I looked. Was the first and last time I staged there...

I've also been asked not to stage at the trail-head at the turn off for Ricardo Campground by one of the State Park LEOs. He was pretty cool though and let me park in the lot in front of the visitors center...
