Piston clearance and ring gap.

Recommended Posts

I'm going to install a CP 13.5:1 piston (p/n cpkx2059) in my 2011 crf450r, and have the cylinder replated. What's the minimum cylinder to piston clearance I can run? The manual recommends .0008" to .0018" for the stock piston, with a ring gap of .010" to .012". I didn't recieve the piston yet. I'm sure CP has a recommendation, but I'd like to use .0008" with .010 ring gap. Would that be safe?
