Ding in KIPS valve?

Recommended Posts

So I had a motor issue back in November on my '04 250. Lower connecting rod bearing went bad, which resulted in the piston having a couple chunks taken off the top edge above the rings. Gouged the cylinder, and also put a small ding in my powervalve. Just curious if anyone had any experience with fixing something like this. Can anything even be done? Or am I stuck spending another $100 for a new valve. Any input would be appreciated.

It's really not that big. About .150 X .050 wide and not very deep.

Wow...that looks just like the variable exhaust valve on my XC600SP Polaris snowmobile.

We have to take those out and clean them every year. Sometimes you see some scuffed or scratched or even dinged like that (how that happens I do not know). People clean and sand them best they can and reinstall. All it does is partially block the exhaust port at low RPMs. Not like it'll notice that little gouge out of it.

Buiggest issue is when they are put back in upside down?!
