Compression reading in PSI

Recommended Posts

Hey, I have bought my son a 07 KX85 about 4 months ago and am pretty sure it has never had a top end done on it. I have checked the compression and is reading about 150 PSI, is this still alright, can anyone tell me what range it should be in. My other son has a RM85 2011 and compression is reading around the same, does this bike also have the same range.

Cheers,

Shane

150 is about the time to change. It's not real bad yet but that's about your bottom reading you want to be at for power. Once it drops below that, you'll start to notice a power loss from blow-by. 195-210 is a good, fresh topend. My sons 125 went all the way to 65 psi and still ran. I could push start it, in gear froma a stand still. Was pretty funny. There's a thread & vid on here somewhere. I didn't want to do the top end cause we were gonna tear it down for a full chassis and engine rebuild with some powder coating. So he just played on it till then.
