Is it necessary to have a skidplate when you ride on mx tracks?

Recommended Posts

No, a skidplate is not neccassary when riding mx. I would use a glid plate though. It doesn't had the wings that protect the ignition and water pump, just protects the underside of the frame. Acerbis has a really nice plastic one that is fairly inexpensive.

If you have money for new cases then no you don't need one. Otherwise, I would run one for cheap insurance. All it takes is a rock to hit the right spot and your cases are trashed.

It's definitely not a must to have a skid plate on your bike for MX since most of them do not come with one, but you'll wish you had one when you smash your cases from hitting a rock and putting a hole through those exspensive cases... :smirk::bonk:
