would you replace this?

This is the water pump gear and shaft from my 01 kx 250. IMG_20120129_175723.jpg I am getting antifreezein my oil so I'm replacing the seals and noticed very lite grooves in the shaft and I'm not sure if I should replace it too. ( its $58 )

if its grooved, replace the shaft and your bearings along with the seals. better to be safe than sorry.

if you put the grooved shaft back in it, it may or may not cause seal failure again. if you want to chance it, don't replace it. i wouldn't chance it :smirk:

I re-used a pump shaft that looked like that once. I blew out the new water pump seal in a couple rides. I would get a new one before replacing the seals.

ANY grooved surface that a seal rides on will leak again eventually, its just a matter of time.
