99 cr 250 stroker questions

Recommended Posts

Im going to look at a 99 cr 250 that is supposed to have a new stroker kit and fresh top end. Im assuming I will have to run 100 octane in this, and if I put my guage on it what type of compression should I be looking for? I havent found out the rod length yet, and he says a vertex piston was used. I have never messed with a stroker bike at all and just want to make sure im not forgetting anything Thanks

It is not guaranteed that you will need to run high octane gas on a stroker kit. Usually they increase the stroke but make the rod shorter to make up for it. A stroker kit will wear pistons and rings out faster due to the sharper rod angles which puts more pressure on the sidewalls of your pistons. The BB stroker 112 kits on the mini bikes (bored and stroked from an 80) recommend piston changes at around 10 hours. IMO, I wouldn't buy a stroked bike personally.
