Gouged Sprocket

Recommended Posts

I have a gouge in the side of one of the teeth of my rear sprocket, will that hurt anything?

post photos.. i would want to know why a tooth came off. If the sprocket is junk/worn out, then it's junk. If something hit the sprocket and knocked a tooth off then no big deal unless your a pro rider and have $ on the line.. (your not, im not).

Probably can't get a good pic now. But, it's a brand new sprocket. I short cut my chain and I was trying to force it on. It took a millimeter or so off the side of one of the teeth. I'm mainly concerned about it prematurely wearing a new chain.

It won’t be a problem. Put it on and forget about it.
