Z50 Suspension

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine recently bought a 1991 Z50....it looked rough and needed some work but it ran good so it was every bit worth $150. I've gotten it sand blasted and now we're gettin it powder coated. For the sake of saving any kind of rubber seals from the heat I want to take the forks apart. Could someone give me some info or a link on how to do this.

Thanks

Slide the dust cover down from the fork upper, inside, there is a lockring that has to be removed and slid down. You can then unbolt the top bolt on the top triple, and remove the fork assembly from the fork uppers. There is a small tang on the very top of the fork assembly, the one on the left fork points to 3 o'clock position, and the one on the right leg fork points to the 9 o'clock position.

You may have to give them a couple of good yanks to pull them out, there are bushings on the fork legs that may get stuck.
