Tech 10's for offroad

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.. I just ordered some tech 10's for offroad... in white and black... and just got them in which they have tons of breather holes.. im guessing my feet will get soaked from these after coming from my tech 8's and wonder if all the tech 10s do? I was debating on just filling the breather holes with silicon or something unless someone has other ideas I'd love to hear them....

Thanks.

The white and black have extra holes. I have tech 10s and have for many years. They hate water and attract it by magic sometimes. I swear if there is a two foot puddle on the track my boot will get splashed by a teaspoon amount and my sock would be soaked. If I crashed in the desert with no-water..I would be fine cuz my boots will lead me straight to water.

2 fiddy... have you only used the white and black? I talked to alpinestar and they made it sound any but the white and black dont have breather holes.... my tech 8's had 3 little breathers but my feet rarely ever got wet.

I have the exact boots you are talking about and ride primarily off road. I actually think they are some of the better boots as far as keeping my feet dry. The other day I dabbed in an ice cold creek about a foot deep and hardly any water came in. My old tech 3's sucked it water so bad it seemed like I had holes drilled in the sole

I will add that after 8 months of off road riding in my 10's they are in bad shape. They are super comfy and the buckles all work well but the plastic on them gets caught on everything and I have tears on both boots. I will not buy another pair of 10's

No, I have had all sorts of different colours. Got me a set of Red and white ones, I bought at the TT-store last week, on the way to my house right now.

Unfortunately, my advice to anyone who doesn't want to buy new boots every year...or rides a lot of muddy and wet trails, don't buy Tech 10s. I'm stuck. They are such a unique boot design (the shoe part), that I don't want to risk spending another 500-600 dollars on a SG12's or another top boot only to find they are just too clunky for me, and I have to spend another 600 for the tech 10s.

If I trail rode more...or switch to harescrambles? I'd be done with A-stars.

I was thinking of possible just sealing the front breather holes since thats like a forced (water) induction.... while trail riding in wet conditions... I really hate to move away from the bootie system so am having a tough time deciding whether to send them back or not. Even the new tech 8 lights have that damn breather section in the front... and your right.. stopped by cycle gear yesterday and even the black has them. Way to go alpinestar for having one of your boot specialists tell me over the phone that only the white and black have these mesh breather sections. GRRRRRRRR
