starting problem after rebuild

Recommended Posts

just did an entire engine overhaul, top and bottom end, however i cannot get the bike to start, it backfires every so often, and there is a notisable fuel smell after a few kicks, i'm thinking prehaps one of the cams is a tooth out? thought's?

bikes an 09 KX450f.

Your cams are probably 180 out. I did that once. The bike will kick and look normal but wont start. Pop the head and spin the cams.

Im sure he meant valve cover, not head^^^. But any way, yes make sure it is timed properly. Hopefully your valves didnt contact the piston.

issue sorted, turned out it was a poor conection to the injector plug, must have been working from time to time, enough to get a little fuelt hrough, but not every fireing rotation.
