APE Cylinder head studs

Recommended Posts

Eddie, open forum question so it's in the know for all and searchable later. (Please, any are free to comment )

I choose APE, is there a different brand you recommend?

What would you recommend for head TQ when using APE studs?

Concern with distorting the cylinder or head by going above the normal 43 ftlb?

Concerns with using these on OEM, CW, Athena or any cylinder?

In general, what builds would you recommend using studs on?

What builds do NOT need them?

Engine has to come out to install / remove a cylinder or head Im guessing, knowing how little extra room there is now..Anything else different on this engine when using studs?

Thanks for letting us pick your DRZ filled head for Tech tips.

we tq them to 65ft lbs. no distortion issues. the only time we use them these days is with questionably sizes cylinders (anything bigger than 94.5 on a stock cylinder) or when running unusually high cylinder pressures (more than 13.5 to 1 compression or using cams with to little duration).
