2009 WR 250 AIS Removal Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a buddy that is trying to install the GYTR AIS removal kit on his new WR. We cannot get the AIS exhaust port cap to stay on despite breaking several clamps of different types (including the one that came with the kit). Is there any other option for blocking this port?

Thank you!

If the cap can still be turned by hand after tightening the clamp, but does not pull off easily, that sounds normal enough to me.

Make sure the supplied gasket for that cap is there.

If the cap comes off by merely sneezing at it, something ain't right.

Make sure the supplied gasket is being used.

If it is still too loose, I'd probably put a layer of very thin metal on the inside of the cap in order to reduce the inner diameter a wee bit which would tighten-up the clamping force.

I had the same issue from the GYTR kit a couple weeks ago for my 09. Started the bike and the pressure blew the cap off right away. So using some safety wire and a portion of the AIS tube i made a solid, quick, and easy fix.

Just remove the OEM fittings and make your own plugs. Much neater...
