cr 85 vs crf 150f

i have a crf 150f but i like the two strokes more. the cr 85 puts out more power than the 150 and has more top end. but are they the same size bike?

The 85 comes in a small wheel and big wheel size, and it's a pretty big difference. The Cr will also be WAY lighter (with better suspension and brakes) than the crf model. The r model 4 stroke will have race suspension and brakes.

One more thing----finding a quality used cr 85 is getting difficult these days. Buy at a low price and be prepared to spend some money to bring it back to good form.

CR85 Expert, KX100, RM85 L, RM100, KTM 105, KTM85 Big Wheel, CRF150RB all have the same size 19" front/16" rear wheels as your CRF150F but signficantly more suspension travel, so they actually sit a just a bit higher. They do indeed have a lot more power than the CRF150F (about 27-29hp vs. 13 hp).

As rpt50 says, they are A LOT lighter and much better suspension. No battery, no elec start, no lights as well. They also all have close ratio transmissions (albeit most are 6 speeds) vs. the wide ratio 5 speed on your CRF150F.

They can all be a good upgrade from the CRF150F as you move up the learning curve.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh? Perhaps you should be considering a full size bike if you are big enough? And what type of riding do you intend to do?

If you are tying to be competitive, the 2 strokes are a better choice. Or, if you have lots of money to spend, go for the 150r. It is very competitive and is SO easy to ride fast on. Unfortunately it makes you develop bad riding habits because it doesn't make you work when riding. It is still about 20 lbs heavier than the 2 strokes, and it costs about $60 per hour to run if taken care of. The 2 strokes only cost about $10 Per hour. If the 150r isn't maintained expect big bills when something goes wrong.

Always go with a 2-Stroke! Cheaper rebuilds! You have to know what your doing to go fast on them though!
