Shift star, bushing, shifter contact surfaces and clutch rod interface

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any seat-of-the pants experience with the feel, or improvement in shifting/neutral-finding ease when polishing the clutch/shifter frictional elements according to Eric Gorr's KX technical guide?

Specifically, he mentions polishing the shift star, the bushing that rides on the shift star, the gear shifter mechanism plates and the clutch actuator vertical rod corner.

WHile Im rebuilding the bottom end, I want to do as much good as possible and avoid regret.

when i was running banshees, the idea of polishing the shift star would help to reduce false neutrals. last thing you want when drag racing or racing in general. it will make finding actual neutral a little harder cause it will shift easier between 1st and 2nd gear.
