xr400 quit firing

Recommended Posts

I installed a 55 watt bulb in headlight about 5 rides ago and now I have no spark at plug.

Could this have burnt something up, or did my coil give up?

The lighting and ignition are 2 separate circuits. The engine stop switch on the handlebars however does have a common ground with the Y bullet connector behind the headlight. That connector is a sorry excuse for an electrical connector. Check the stop switches wiring.

If that's not it, make sure the spark plug boot is securely fastened to the end of the coil wire. Change the plug with a known good one.

Thanks for the reply.

When it first happened about 2 weeks ago, I did check the kill switch and related connections, and tried 2 new plugs.

After I read your reply I thought I better check them twice.

Its working fine now, just wish I knew witch one was the problem. Maybe some soldering in my future.

I am thankful for the reply though or I wouldnt of double checked myself.
