How to torque cam sprocket bolts?

Recommended Posts

I'm getting ready to do the top end on my 08 450R and want to make sure I've got it all figured out. I don't understand how I am supposed to torque the two bolts on the cam sprocket without the cam turning, anybody know the answer?

Put the bike in gear, have a friend step on the brake, and tighten to 15ft/lbs.

I use an 18", 3/8" breaker bar on the primary gear.

Using the correct allen socket, I use the footpeg to hold the bar while I torque

the cam bolts. I always take off the pressure from the tensioner so that

the guide is not stressed. This works for taking them off also.
