Girl Mechanics In AMA Supercross/Motocross?

Recommended Posts

Im Going to go to UTI and become a K-Tech Specialist (Kawasaki) and when i graduate could i get a job in Supercross/Motocross as a team Mechanic..or no because im a girl?? Ive talked to some people and they said i could possibly be a Priveteer Mechanic but not for a big team like Villopoto or Wilson.. What do you think?? Could i be on a team like Villopotos or Priveteers only?

I would say no. Not because you are a girl, but because you would need years of proven experience before you could wrench for a Factory team. Wrenching for a privateer will be your best way to go. Start small and local, build a reputation and see where it takes you.

Do you realize that you will need a lengthy resume full of experience to even be considered for any type of professional level tech job? Plus UTI blows and you will learn more in a shop than you will at that school. Read a book or two and you will know more than they teach you.

Actually they can, they just aren't fast enough.

All things in consideration, being a woman will work to your advantage, but expect to start small.

Can't all women be like this. I can barely get my girl to hold a wrench for me.

You can do what ever you want, if your willing to put your blood sweat and tears into it. I had a engine mechanic (aviation) that used to work for me that went to school and had graduated under the Harley program. She was a great mechanic and a hard worker. She joined the Navy to get more experience and school under her belt with the end goal of opening her own Harley shop. Damn smart way she was going about it as well. The Navy was paying for her degree in business management. No doubt one day she will own her own shop and be successful. So as long as you have a long term goal and set a resonable time table there is no reason why you can't be a factory teams mechanic. Good luck on what ever route you take.
