Scratched my shock body rebuilding it, now what?

Hi guys,

I recently decided to try my hand at rebuilding a shock that I got as a spare with my bike. I got it down to the circlips, and then got a little sloppy and tried to use small flat blade screwdrivers to get them out. Wouldn't you know it, they slipped and made a scratch about an inch or so down from the circlip in the shock body itself. My fingernail only catches on a small raised portion at the top of the scratch towards the circlip.

Story told, can I fix it?

Yep sand with 600 then polish with 1200

Sounds like it will be covered by the sealhead once u assemble it.

yea I'd assemble it and check it out. it may not be that far down.
