XR100 Throttle won't go back in carb! Please help! (Pics inside)

Recommended Posts

I took out the throttle (cylinder part) to remove the carb to fix a leaky bowl gasket, went to put it back in, and it wont go back in. This is as far as it will go in:

and this is how it enters the carb:

This has happened the last 2 times. The first time, it wouldn't go in, then just slid in when I tried again. The second time took probably 25 tries before it reluctantly slid in. Now it won't go in at ALL. This is extremely irritating. Yes, it is staying in the same position as it goes in. I tried removing the idle screw to remove any blockages that might stop it from entering and it still Wouldn't. I also removed the main jet and there was no blockage preventing the needle from entering. WHY WON'T IT GO IN?! There is NO visible blockage.

PLEASE tell me ANY solutions you may have for this irritating issue.

you have it backwards. the slot needs to point to the inside of the bike(away from the idle speed screw) there is a little sloped cutaway that bottoms out on the idle screw when properly installed. turn the slide back and forth to get the little protrusion inside the bore to engage the slot in the slide and allow it to fully close.
