1990 dr350 starting trouble

Recommended Posts

OK so I have a 1990 dr350 kick start only and its a bitch to start cold or warm. It basicly only starts when it wants to, yet when it does it runs like a champ. Need help figuring out why it won't start well

i have a 92 kicker, was a pain in the ass ,but looked around web and youtube [was surprised how many 'how to start vids for dr 350's] for hints, mine petrol on,no choke push through compression a few times, crank till pressure builds, decom,no throttle, kick mine usually takes bout 3 goes at most, then pull choke a little till warmed up,recently found a dead battery was hurting my starting ,new battery full charge starts much better in my case anyways

Try closing the throttle completely by unscrewing the idle thumbscrew. If it tries to start, then you probably have an idle circuit problem. This could be caused by a clogged pilot circuit, pilot jet, the wrong size pilot jet, or the improper idle mixture screw setting. I had a similar problem with my 90 DR350S.

Report back after you give that a try.
