My nipple fell off!

Had to run some errands at lunch time, and when I started my S I noticed fuel leaking out of the petcock. Turned out the nipple on the petcock that the hose attaches to came out of the petcock. I took it out of the hose (with a lil help) and gently tapped it back in place. So far it's holding, but I'm figuring that's a temporary fix. Has anyone else had this happen?

I've read a bit on the original petcocks failing, but not quite like that. ?

I was tearing the bike down last week and somehow the fuel line bonded to the nipple, and I pulled it out instead of pulling the fuel line off. I'd imagine some black RTV would do the trick.

Tap it back in dry. No chemicals.

It is a taper fit and it is supposed to be dry.

Any chemicals you use will eventually soften up and cause problems.

I pulled mine out back in March when I was pulling the tank off. I just pushed it back in, and it's been leak free since.

Just as above, just push it back in, it will stay. Mine comes out each time I remove the tank, I never pay any mind any more.

Sounds like it's more common than I thought. Perhaps my tappity-tap-tap fix will be fine then.

haha. sorry im not helping but i always thought that a good title gets more people to look at your post. haha. this is definitely the case with this one for me...
