California Gorman sting operation alert!

Recommended Posts

Who said the guy drove there? Maybe he came with a friend who drove. If a 10 y/o can ride OFF ROAD, a person with a suspended license should be able to ride OFF ROAD. If in fact this is a law - and I'm not saying it IS or ISN'T. I've got no idea - then it SHOULD be disobeyed by use of civil disobedience and brought to court so that this can be sorted out.

BAD LAWS should have a spotlight shown on them so that they can be repealed. The best spotlight most of us can afford is CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE. Disobedience of bad laws is what our country was FOUNDED on. Exercise civil disobedience, and accept the consequences so that insanity can be brought public.

IMO, blindly following corrupt laws is unpatriotic. Plain and simple.

Exercise discernment and help change the US into a better country.

Ride wilderness!

I disagree. There is a big difference between possibly being irresponsible (10 yo) with a motor vehicle and proving it (idiot with a suspended lic.).

I guess you're right. We should get some MORE laws so that we can clarify issues even more. Keep all idiots AND irresponsible people off the trails. BTW, who defines idiot?

I'm against more controls and such, but if someone lost their licence, there must of been a reason for that. Also, if they lost their licence, they lost their privilege to ride/drive on public roads and trails, on and off road. The key words are public and privilege.

If the rangers need to write more citations. there are plenty of opportunities if they watch the fools without helmets, multiple riders, and such. but why look at smog crap and such. next thing they will do is ticket for broken turn signals while riding off road.

Setting up at the gate is just being lazy. they don't have to go out.

dang keyboard. my y and h are throwing yh characters..........

No worries here. My dual sport bike is 100% compliant, quiet, spark arrested and legal with a real CA plate. I still have the stock "black fuel overflow box" with the vent hoses routed into it.

My 300 is red sticker, quiet, spark arrested, legal, and ridden during the week in Gorman with no hassles whatsoever.

These rangers are just doing their jobs. All these horror stories are a bunch of BS. I've been going to Gorman since I was a kid and have never ever been hassled…..

All these horror stories are a bunch of BS.

Really? Seems like a lot of effort by a lot of people just to start a conspiracy over.....

PS - I think it has a lot to do with what color your bike is. One day in....oh around 2004 when WR's were RED stickered, I got pulled over 4-5 times one day and hassled during green sticker only season. Twice by the same ranger who obviously forgot who I was. Each time accused of putting a green sticker on a red stickered bike, etc. Took them several radio calls to figure out that 2001/2002 WR's were green stickered - and even then they were still suspicious of me. You'd think that being rangers in an OHV park and with WR's as popular as they were, they'd have a clue, but it seemed not. They definitely had a hard on for WR's that season. It's not all a bunch of BS, and not all "offenders" are criminals..... But it does seem like all Gorman rangers are inept. But hey, that's just my PERSONAL observation. There might be a good one out there....

kinda funny, becuase I heard the guy that is the new superviser at Gorman, use to be at Bodie! From what I heard He has got made at other rangers, that worked under him, for not writing enough tickets.

Wow, if true that would explain a lot...

Wow. That is pretty interesting. This guy definitely did NOT like OHV's - and he carried a sidearm and had a wild west sheriff complex. Seems completely obvious that they'd send him to work in an OHV park.:ride::lol:

that's right..there used to be NO RULES at all regarding where you could ride. Then, with the massive push to sell more dirt bikes and ATVs, there were a lot more hillclimbs and the tortoise population plummeted.

Some protection was in order, but riders could not be counted on to follow the rules, so punitive closures resulted. still no compliance, so suits, red signs etc...still no compliance?....(you fill in the blank)

Right Doggbreath! What a dip sh i t. That couldn't have been because the illegal invasion of Mexico and it being a good tasting thing right. Look it up, they love to eat them things, especially when your starving and they are just as fast to catch.

I liked the place alot better in the late 70's. No rangers, ride where you want and zero hassels. I know times change but they don't have to always change for the worse. I've been approached before just sitting in my chair hanging out. Registration, license please, so I told them I wasn't riding (plus I'm totally legit) he stepped back and looked at me funny. So I asked if there was anything I could do for him and he said no. Just walked off. I think i dumb founded him. One of the kookyest momments ever.

Ahhh, you had to go and quote that desert turd didn't you? I've got that clown on ignore so I don't have to hear or see what kind of dumbass remark he's going to make.......one day we will read about his demise and there will only be a grease spot left in his place....it will be deemed a landfill with hazardous waste. Hate that he even has dog as part of his name, he's not even worthy of that.

Sorry SILENT,

So that means when he is on your ignore and someone quotes him you see it? DAM

Yah know. if it wasn't for all us dirt bikers, the dinosaurs would still be roaming the earth to. that just sucks what we did. We made everything extinct because of our endless amount of trails, and roads. Thats it! I am selling it all and getting a covered wagon and some oxen. \

Ride hard my outlaw friends. And remember, excessive and unnecessary Internet chest pounding causes arm pump !:thumbsup:

SHECKY you gonna join us in Johnson Valley next month ?

BILL you are still the best loved Internet poutlaw in 50 states ! (I only didn't invite you cause you won't come... but always welcome.)

Chad thanks for the heads up ! (You are always invited.)

No arm pump, just a little cramping in the finger.

Oh, and I will be there if the forecast is for below 95*. Otherwise I'll be up at Kennedy Meadows till it cools down just a tad. ;)

Hmmm, I wonder if the rangers know the smog system on my Beta? I still have all the smog stuff and my bike in the garage. Some of the stuff in my garage goes on rides and some of it stays put.

I should ride up on my XR and see if they can find the smog equipment that never came on a 93 600. What's even more amazing is they just can't figure out the stock Krizman spark arrestor. That's always good for a 30 minute explanation and a chance of a ticket. They don't take it very well when I take a bunch of pics and tell tehm straight out that I'll make them look like a fool infront of the judge. They seem to only train for screen type spark arrestors. I really threw some LA county Sheriff's when I showed them that the testing probe didn't hit anything on their own XR650L's. I wish I had a movie camera on that occasion. It was a classic.

More seriously, I am not surprised at all that this happened at Gorman. It's been happening at other SVRA's for a few years now.

Well even with all the crap we have a lot more... and arguably much better riding opportunities than most of the 50 states. So leaving CA for better riding is limited. If you can up root your family and find a job in Idaho or Utah good for you. But they are having their own issues too.

Not that I take my 650 out to gorman (or ride gorman much at all for that matter), the last thing I want is some dipshit ranger telling me that (1) my bike shouldn't have a plate or (2) lokking for a screen-type sparky that isn't there...

It took me over a year-and-a-half to get the pink on my LEGALLY CONVERTED XR from the f-ing DMV. Rangers start sending notices, which may result in a CHP inspection, which may result in adherence to NEW requirements (as opposed to grandfathering it in under the old requirements) and I may no longer have a plated R.

That would upset me.

Yeah, and good luck making a living wage in those states unless you happen to be in one of the rare trades / occupations that is actually in demand these days.

Adult movie industry, "any" state. Just some don't get caught.

"Any" except CA of course, unless you're gonna wrap it up. Next the lesbos will have to use dental dams. Gotta love CA and the things we crack down on . . . cuz we all know it's porn stars and dirtbikers ruining the state!!!

I've noticed my reg on my XR plated in 2003 shows the date I bought it as the "first registered" date (not sure of exact term). For that reason I also carry around the old reg. which has the previous owner's name and first reg date of 2003.

a co worker of mine goes to gorman almost every weekend. he was talking to the rangers and they told them every weekend they are on the lookout and impound stolen bikes and quads. one day they filled a flatbed wrecker full so thats about 4 quads or 8 bikes i am guessing. it sucks gorman has turned into that.
