Xr's Only Case Saver - 14 tooth with 15 tooth C/S?

Recommended Posts

XR650r, I have the 14 tooth XR's Only case saver, would like to put a 15 tooth counter sprocket on, will it fit, perhaps with a liitle grinding? It looks like there is a little clearance, the case saver is already pretty thin by the clutch shaft, so is there much difference between the 14 tooth and 15 tooth case saver?

I know dropping a few teeth on the rear sprocket is pretty much the same, but Primary Drive counter sprocket costs about $8, PD doesn't carry rear sprockets below 48 tooth, so Sunstar, Renthal etc. rear sprocket is about $50.

I run both-I didnt grind it-it ground a little off by itself.I run dirt tricks ironman sprockets with rk x-ring chain ans dry film lube.usually run 15-47 but have a 14.No noticeable wear at 4000+ miles on-off road.An xrr will eat aluminum rear sprockets..

Anything eats aluminum sprockets....unless you race aluminum sprockets are a waste of money, and only good for the "cool" factor.
