KX250F Airbox defect resulting in valve problems

Recommended Posts

I got a notice in the mail a week ago about the air filter seal. I also got a notice about the plunger on the carb. It seems that water can get down into there. I am taking the bike to the shop tomorrow. I have only had mine about a month and have about 10 hours on it, so I hope no damage.

I have removed the airboot from every bike I've owned and used an RTV sealer to make sure the boot is sealed to the airbox. It's also a good idea to check the clamp to the carb and make sure there is a positive seal. Sometimes excess filter oil will allow the clamp to slip off the carb bell. You have to remove the boot, spray contact cleaner or use laquer thinner to remove the oil. When you clamp it down, the boot will not slip and squish around on the bell. It is a more positive seal and the clamp actually gets tight to the feel when you cinch it down. This applies to most bikes I've owned.
