SOLD in 2014.
Man I loved Thumper! So simple. So powerful!
I did some pretty serious high mountain passes in Colorado on this bike. I also road it to work (no highways).
It is *heavy* for off road. I only dropped it once on a trail and was able to pick it up, but just barely.
Then again, it's *light* for on road. I only took it on highways a couple of times and it was super twitchy and got blown around a lot. But for surface streets, it's perfect.
The best thing about this bike is the simplicity of the engineering. Air cooled. Simple carb. And one big, fat, thumpin' cylinder. To manage the gearing off road, I kept a separate rear wheel with a 50 tooth sprocket (stock is 45) and an aggressive, non-dot tire. I switched the front sprocket from 15 to 14.
