This bike is my return to Motocross and first 2 stroke. First time I hit the powerband I litterally smiled and grabbed some more gas. So much power and its so fun to ride. Its a pure breed race bike that I made trail friendly as I love endurocross a bit more than racing these days.
The FMF Gnarly and turbine core 2 Q is a much needed upgrade for trails and I find it works better than my pro circuit system on the track.Reason being 1st gear can yank the bike out of corners without any clutch work and it brings the power down low and increases acceleration. Top end isnt needed because larger bikes like this wont hit 4th gear on any of my local tracks if im rolling through each gear and staying in the power.
I LOVE the stock graphics with the big yellow HONDA label. The bike flies in the air VERY nicely and handles well. Im still having trouble going through slow hairpin turns and it feels like im driving a XL limo in a very small city.
As for reliability, its very reliable (like all Honda bikes). I mix 32:1 and use a weisco piston. The weisco piston NEEDS a long warmup but offers more performance than the stock one (a little).
I use pro taper bars, renthall rear sprocket and Primary Drive front sprocket and chain.
What I dont like about the bike
- Stock shifter, very slippery and too small
- My bridgestone tires are GREAT in large puddles. I go through the deepest stuff without noticing it at all. However, they SUCK on hardpack and dont throw mud out of the tread well.
Honda needs to make a 2 stroke again. No oil injection and definetly no electric start. If ya cant kick it over, your not tough enough to ride it.
