This is my TS-Z400, a homage to the Suzuki TS enduros of the 1970’s.  Despite its modified looks it is still a DR-Z400E at it's core. This bike rides on 18" wheels front and back wearing Pirelli Sport Demon tires. The exhaust is a Yoshimura dual system. The exhaust isn't loud, but it sings a great song. There is a down side to the exhaust; weight and the fact that a center stand cant be used. That's a compromise I was willing to make for beauty. The suspension has been internally lowered reducing front and rear travel by 2 inches. I did this purely for reasons of aesthetics as I am 6'1" and have no problem touching the ground on any modern dirtbike. While the reducing the ride height, the valving was perfected for street use and the the spring rates were selected for the new ride height and system weight (290 bike, 180 rider). Reducing the ride height did make the bike handle better. Speaking of which, the bike is an absolute blast to ride on back roads. I'm using 14/41 sprockets which yield an rpm range of 3,800 to 5,800 between 40-60mph. I enjoy the double takes the bike gets - it looks familiar but no one knows what the heck it is. As much as I enjoyed the transformation of this bike, the real pleasure is in riding it. I believe that this bike will be a lifetime friend.

My cafe racer started life as a cruiser. This thumper lived its life in a metal shed on the New Jersey shore and by the time I saved it there wasn’t much left of it. The engine, forks, wheel hubs and switch gear had to be hand polished to get them to shine again. The bike only had 2600 miles on it so the frame and wire harness were in very good condition. Everything else was replaced or modified.
