To appreciate this bike, you have to think about what it is and isn't.  It's not a big displacement European adventure bike and it's not motorcross racer either.  It's the go just about everywhere bike and it does a great job at it.  I rode 125 miles today (50 on trails and 75 on pavement) and it did perfectly.  I was amazed how competent it is on the dirt.  I rolled over rock trails (no dirt just big riprap) and got over it easier than I could have walked the same trail.  It went through the most difficult terrain that is in La Dee Flat just fine, then then I rode home at 65 mph.  Pretty impressive.  Nice job Honda!

Okay bike, if I had a second chance I probably would've gone for a nicer or newer model.

I am trying to figure out why every time I start my bike, crf, it dumps gas in the engine case. Literally at idle for 30 seconds gas and oil start coming out of overflow. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

Bought it for $400 AUD, Owner didn’t know it was running even though he knew about bikes and was restoring a 1881 rm80, took it home opened the carb and all the jets were clear so I cleaned out the gunk in the float bowl and it started straight away when I bump started it.

    The 2017 CRF1000D is amazing!
This "ULTRA DUAL SPORT" is an Adventure bike more oriented toward off road riding than most in its class. Purchased as an upgrade to our smaller Dual Sport machines, it handles great and rides smooth & comfortable. We can now add Interstate riding to our dual sport experience with all the confidence of a 1 liter machine where highway power and acceleration are key factors. It handles its weight quite well and feels like a much lighter bike in most cases. Very capable off road. Fast and efficient on the highway. Dual Clutch Transmission technology (DCT) is remarkably accurate toward gear selections most riders would likely make on their own. Having no clutch lever or foot shifter is different at first, but one gets used to it quickly. It's enjoyable that no down shifting or clutch attending are required when pulling up to a traffic light on the way to the forest roads. It does it all on its own. I've done ten hours in the saddle on one ride/day with little discomfort noted. Does need a tire change if one desires to ride it on gravel, it comes equipped with highway tires and "carves the twisties" quite well when they are installed. With appropriate off road tires it handles gravel, rocks and mud just as good as, if not better than, our smaller dual sport machines. Not a trail bike yet quite appropriate everywhere else we have rode them. It certainly filled the niche we were intending to cover with the CRF1000L. No regrets to note.

This is probably the best bike I have ever owned. I loved my 17, this puts it to shame. Well, that's a bit over the top but it is superior in every way. Feels like a 250F, suspension works well (though I will tweak it a bit) and the magic button is worth the price of admission.

Apparently the rear muffler mount is breaking off, mainly with aftermarket pipes with solid mounts but there have been reports of them breaking with the stock mufflers as well. Pro Circuit recommends having the mount beefed up, which I did. And props to Pro Circuit; their original systems had solid mounts but they are now upgrading them to rubber mounts free of charge, except for the shipping there. They will pay for the return shipping. Kawasaki is also warranting the sub frames as well. I think the mount is welded on crooked as shown in one of my pics.

My first 4 stroke MX bike, and I've had one day on it so far, and I took it easy, as it was break in day. Having said that, I only rode the standard mapping setting, so far. I can say that the bike has some grunt. Has some pull, and it seems to handle pretty well. Noticeably heavier than my CR 250 (I think it weighs ~15 lbs more), when putting it on, and off the stand, yet once on the track, it feels just as light, and flickable.
