I took my 13 350 sxf that was street legal, and swapped out the 430hour engine for a 360 hour 08 300xc engine from my 08 300xc and created Frankenbike. Built Dec 2017raced and ridden in many places. Prob has 500 on frame 400 +hour on the engine. 2nd piston, original bottom end, with some upgrades. This bike is my favorite bike I've ever ridden. I ride nasty single track and race Enduro and some hare scramble. Love to ride the nasty stuff though.

It's pretty good so far but I the bike spitts and the previous owner said if it continues spitting the engine would melt,so it's to rich on the air to fuel mixture, but I don't know how to tune it

Just picked a 2018 up, only taken it on a 2 hour ATV trail ride. So far loving it, coming from a WR250R though it has its idiosyncrasies. Looking forward to getting the stock tires off and Tubliss coupled with decent tires on.

I picked the bike up a year ago. It sat in Dad's garage. With my own space I started breaking it down reviewing the systems. Checking and cleaning I Have not ridden or heard it run yet. Hopeful to have it done at Winters end...

A workhorse of a bike. Resprung it to 9.2 kg/.56 and she just floats. Currently running a Shinko 216 Fatty 90/100 on the front and a Michelin AC10 120/90 for the rear. Rekluse EXP 3.0 and some other goodies as well.

Another gem found on Craigslist a few weeks ago (October 2018.) I'm in the process of restoring it for my kids. Some might look at it and say it's trashed, but the engine still has 90 psi on a compression test. I'm tracking down OEM parts on-line and after a thorough re-build, it will be a nice little vintage quad.

Spectacular beginner dirtbike. Legal on the road but enough power and suspension to tackle most features. In the right hands it'll just perform while not punishing the learning rider. Indestructible and I'll never sell mine.
Stock tires need to go ASAP and it'll benefit from some lower gearing

I cant compare to much seeing as this is the first bike I've bought after getting my endorsement. I must say I'm in love. But it's been a bit of a learning curve from the smaller bikes I'm use to. Tall, tall , tall. Tiptoerider was a username I saw when looking for bikes and reviews, and man did he nail it. I'm 5'9 so I guess I'm on the shorter side of normal, and I cant flat foot both feet. That is totally not an issue for me, but I'm not a small guy either at 275lbs (atm..lol). So this shorter, but heavy combo makes this bike work for me. If however you are under 6ft and not a heavy hitter maybe try it on first because it is heavy quite literally. So I have a Trailtech vapor installed, and I'm sure that it is a few degrees off of accurate, but I do notice that it gets hot like........275F if I'm not pushing air into it. Say I'm in some single track and need to stop when my engine temp is stable at 240-260. I watch it climb to over 300f when the engine shuts off. I've heard of people adding oil coolers. I have seen mixed results. Some adapt older Honda 400 oil coolers and others piece together frankinbuild oil coolers from eBay scavenger hunts. I want whats best for this bike for me and the next guy or gal that rides it. And I cant help but worry that any thing added on will add another point that a leak can be introduced. I trust Honda way more than I trust my relatively cheap speedometer doitaller from china. But other than that elephant in the room I have seen these motors and many other Honda variants go for well over their intended life span with good oil and routine maintenance. I mean It's a Honda. Parts are cheap and plentiful. Not much has changed in the last...what 25 years. I purchased my bike with a lot of upgrades, mainly Supermoto plastics and a Clark tank. Warp 9 Elite wheels wrapped in some....meh Continentals Con-motions I think(nothing special) , but brand new. Stars first press every time. Shifts smooth . Feels like your riding a dirt bike on the road, and its because you are. It gets old quick on long flat sections.......stand ups , stretches. The seat is pretty forgiving , but lets be honest its no Harley seat and Im not asking it to be. I bought this bike as a Supermoto, so Ill reap what I sew. Dual sport riders and most people that buy this bike or convert a XRR know its a dirt bike first and a commuter second. But all that being said and considered. This bike is an eye catcher and its a blast to ride. I will keep this updated as this bike ages.

A week ago I sold my vintage 1984 Honda XR500R to a guy that I know will take wonderful care of it - he drove from Kentucky to Texas to pick it up.  I also still have a 1997 XR250R that is in extraordinary condition that I ride regularly in SW New Mexico.  After doing a good deal of research on the Yamaha WR250R I found and acquired a 2017 model with only 700 miles on it.  So far I have only ridden it on pavement since I am back in Texas but I am very pleased with the bike.  It is my first 21st Century motorcycle so the tech and complexity is an interesting contrast to the relative simplicity of the XR's.  I will add to this review (or do another) once I have put in some off-road time in NM.

Great value, do-it-all dual sport.  Not a performance machine, but an endless number of modifications are out there.  You can turn this bike into anything you want.  Super easy to work on yourself, and a great first bike for an aspiring self-taught mechanic.  Mine is used for anything from light adventure, to rugged OHV trails.

The only non-Japanese bike I have owned.  Truly a performance machine, and a blast to ride.  Maintenance is a bit trickier though.
