First dual sport, love it. KTM makes a great 500 and I am very impressed with how well this handles on road and off. I wish the forks were a little more forgiving coming off a wheelie but other than that it does great. Using this for occasional commute but mostly running around the couty. Planning on light adventure riding with it as well.
Mods: GET ecu, reed removal, billet end cap, take two mirrors, tusk rack, fender eliminator with Tail Tidy LED
Future plans for mods: larger fuel tank, led headlight
My first 2T after a 20 yr hiatus from riding. Bought second hand from a racer, so a little banged up … perfect to knock the rust off! Still getting used to the power band, but going from racing mode to “reliable” mode on the map-select switch helps. Spent more time riding and fixing my son’s ‘06 105SX than riding this bike since purchase, but at least the newer Husky seems more reliable.
Found a good price on this bike from a local dealer selling on consignment, so bought as my son’s “next bike up” once he outgrows his CR85R. Power of a 125 on a mini-moto frame. Fun bike, but a lot of work so far. The cheap after market top end (Namura) the dealer installed combined with me riding it to hard before breaking resulted in two blown head gaskets. On the bright side, it’s been a great training aid for my son on how to mechanic!
My sons first race bike. Great 2T learning bike. Throttle is pretty much a light switch… either luggin or trying to keep the front wheel planted … I had to learn more clutch control just to teach him. Bike is easy to work on and reliable
