My daily rider that I call Mae. Days that require groceries or parts I pilot the '89 HD sidecar(Jolene). Also have several other bikes and it gets to be daunting to maintain all of them including the off-road bikes, but the pig is maybe my favorite daily rider with the exception of Caroline, my '69 Shovelhead. I recently scored on a set of stock wheels for Mae so I can install some aggressive knobbies for quick-swapping when I plan swamp-day rides with the KLR riders. The XR has the advantage of ground clearance as well as weight, so I power through the challenging areas with ease compared to them. I bought Mae for 1,200 dollars several years ago from an elderly gentleman whom it was willed to, and the original owner didn't take very good care of her. I had to find a new wiring harness, cleaned the carb, changed the oil and tires, added a Clarke tank, and started buying used plastic that was mismatched. A Marine friend of mine told me I should camouflage her and I thought that was a good idea, so I'm still working on that. I will eventually get the frame up to speed with a lot of other parts. The exhaust shield was actually one of my first attempts at powder coating before my oven went south. I did also get the Concepts seat used, and at 6'2", it gives me the ability to flat-foot both boots at stops. I'm not sure what mods the previous owner did, and I can't remember what the jetting is, but she has the stock snorkel and runs out easily at 70mph. Can't remember my sprocket numbers either. I'm a lot older than most of you on here and that's the best excuse I got.
