Great bike, it had some problems when I bought it, but none of them were problems with the bike model, just a couple of dodgy fixes by the the previous owner. It is tall, and me being 5’8” means that this is about the tallest bike that I could reasonably handle but I have gotten much more comfortable on the bike. Surprisingly, I’ve found that by sitting on it in the garage, balancing the bike on my toes whenever I can has strongly decreased my discomfort/fear of it being too tall which is nice when I can’t get out to ride much. Anyways, back to the bike, it seems kind of loud to me, especially for a dual sport with the stock exhaust. I do know that an OEM dB killer exists for this bike, but they are really hard to find and the prices have become unreasonable. If anybody has a good solution to that, or a dB killer they could spare, please let me know.

The add seemed a bit cheap.
Had a quick chat to the owner who told me they’d overheated it playing in the mud. Blew head gasket, so they pulled the head and barrel, replaced tings(said that it didn’t need rings but had it apart) set valves and replaced gaskets.

on first inspection it wouldn’t start but the battery sounded ‘lazy’.
second inspection she started immediately from cold.
a quick negotiation secured the bike, a massive amount of spares (new and old), soft bags and hard panniers.
philosophically I’m telling myself I’ve only paid for the modifications and got the frame, motor, wheels etc for free
my plan is to spend the next year exploring the state of Victoria, hopefully getting my dirt, adventure, riding mojo in order.
if I don’t die in the process I’m planning to be part of a small group ride to Cape York in Far North Queensland in 2022.
i haven’t seen the bike in the flesh yet as a friend of mine purchased it on my behalf
it arrives in the next few day from 2000km away
    will it explode ?
    will I die ?
    Only time will tell.

This is the machine made of dreams. 6 speed wide ratio big bore thumper with electric start (no kick starter which is an issue for me), excellent ergonomics, tunable suspension, trail ready right off the showroom floor. For kicks, I added a horn, license plate with on and off road stickers, brake light switch and brake light, and an object that looks like a mirror. Abracadabrazilicazam it's now a dual sport. I'll update the AT 81 Geomax tires to DOT when they wear out soon. Intended use is commute to BLM and USFS motorized trails, etc. I'm working in Silver City, New Mexico, surrounded by wildernesses ranging from tall pines to high desert with proximity to Arizona, Utah, and Colorado, etc. This machine will allow me to explore places I wouldn't dare ride the GS1250, for example.
The FE 510 has a very quiet exhaust note. It is plugged up like the FE-S or EXC. It does have a reed valve in the intake boot but because there is an 02 sensor on the header the reed can be safely removed without causing lean condition making performance worse. I am going to check this out with Mr. Slavens, the preeminent authority on such matters, before I remove it because if this will lead down the rat hole of a new ECU I won't do it. The bike runs great as it is.  It has a mapping switch with standard and advanced positions with traction control if you like in each map...at the touch of a button.
It needs an oil change after one hour or 30 miles. I use factory recommended oil and OEM oil filter. There are two screens and a magnetic plug that need to be taken out and cleaned at oil change. These are easily accessible and don't take much time. Refill volume is is 1200cc and there is a sight glass. Then it's every 15 hours or after a race.  Common sense and leaning towards change when in doubt is good advice. Break-in is outlined in the book and I'll leave it there. Personally, I follow factory guidelines as closely as possible.
Once I get some time on this bike I'll update my garage.

I'm in love with this bike. I've always been a 4t guy, and I've never been able to get into 2t. Recently, I was shopping around for a new bike to hit the trails with. I figured I'd give this bike a shot because it seemed to be the perfect bridge into the 2t world. The thing runs and rides smooth as butter, and adds simple quality of life gimmicks that actually are useful. Obviously with TPI there is no need to premix fuel, and FI means no jets to play with. So far, I have only explored the area around my home, but the bike gives me confidence that I've never had before. I have been climbing hills and riding through areas I never wanted to go near before. The suspension setup feels great as well. As this bike is a Husky, it comes with the linkage suspension which I really like quite a bit. The XPLOR forks have also treated my very well, and are likely the best forks I've felt yet. The trail computer that is installed on the bike can show you things like your average speed, trips, hours, and hours until required maintenance. The bike is brand new so there are no problems to report yet, and hoping it sticks to that trend. I'm well prepared to deal with 2t maintenance, so bring it on. I can't wait to bring this bike on some trails that are out of state. So far, I'm planning on adding a seat concepts seat and some wrap-around handguards. I'm also looking at grabbing some general protection things for the linkage and such. As of now, I have to give the bike a 5/5 because it is just that good.
