Vehicle Details

Looking at doing Dave's carb mods. At looking at my 2014 XR650L,s carb, noticed that the carb looks different from previous earlier models. It doesn't have the the adjustment screw at the bottom that you cut the tab off of, the bowl still has the tab on it. Now this seems to be one visual difference from outside. Was wondering if anyone has done any mods on this year of carb? I don't want to cripple my bike, ending up with along down time!! I also don't want to spend $$$ on another carb. Any help would well be appreciated. Love reading the articles in this forum, lots of ideas for future mods.

OH and thanks in advance. Also meant to ask how much HP and torque does the bike have in stock form, and what would the gains would be after carb mods. Has any one dynoed the results. I've removed the pollution pipes, adding the block off plates. I only removed and rerouted rubber hoses from the side of carb to the front of carb, is this OK or should I block the two of them ( As they seemed to jointed with a " tee in between before ")  and blocked off the large hose at air box, leaving the oil separator and crank case vents in stock form, can't see any pros or cons in removing this part as some people have done. Removed baffle from air box, only plan on grinding out stock header pipe after I do the carb mods first. THANKS again!!

Grinding the header pipes? never heard this one before. Still looking for someone who changed out first gear with the XR600R transmission. Did it work. Was it worth it.
