C$10.00CategoryCustomLast UpdatedReviewAs I said, the XR100 16" rear rim is a built with wet noodle spokes, After getting sick of spending $40 on new spokes every couple months, I put 1980 XL100 rims on it, front and back. Yes, the 17" will fit, though it's tight. Need to fandangle a new system for the rear brake though.
$100.00CategoryCustomLast UpdatedReviewI think this isn't exactly a mod, I replaced the engine with that of an XL100, both because the original was worn out, and because I HAD to have a headlight. XR100 doesn't have any stator windings for aux power, and also has a smaller flywheel and cover, I can't remember if it's imperative for the block to be changed. I did need to cut a rear corner off the flywheel side cover to make it clear one of the bolts. The headlight is a cheap plastic driving light, 50W and works good enough for putzing around at night
$100.00CategoryCustomLast UpdatedReviewThe old forks on the bike were *done*, they had absolutely no chrome left on them, so I took the whole triple clamp assembly and forks from an XL100 and put them in, only problem is the forks will hit the gas tank, you need to build up the stops to prevent this.. The XL forks are heavier unfortunately, but work just fine.
