  1. Beta does drop ship parts. It’s just your dealer has to be willing to do it. I have Parts drop shipped to my customers all the time. Even if it’s something I have in stock it’s often easier have it drop shipped to them instead of replenishing my supply. If my SoCal customers message me before noon they almost always have parts the next day. I don’t want to use this forum to promote or take away sales from your local hard working dealers, but if your not satisfied shoot me a message, I can get your Enduro parts too.

  2. Also I will add Slavens to the list of online vendors that show item "in stock" even when it is not. Ordered an S3 head for the wife's XT. No response after a week (they are 80 miles away from me) and when I finally inquired got the "don't have it, won't have it for about 6 weeks". I realize it is hard to have all things in stock at all times, but when you have a backorder, it's on the seller to communicate with the customer and give them options. When we have online sellers like ebay/amazon/revzilla/partzilla/motosport/motorcyclesuperstore/bikebandit/rmatv to choose from, service will always be the determining factor.

  4. No, no, no A valve seat is cut with the guide as a pilot so that the valve seat is perfectly concentric to the guide. Changing a guide and not cutting a seat is a no no. It flat out wont be concentric enough.

  6. Braces prevent the radiator from being bent or pushed backwards upon frontal impact. Guards help prevent poking and bashing from front and/or side. Some, like the Force Accessories guards shown below, have both features in one product. I installed Unabiker guards on my 2016 Xtrainer when new. At the end of the first riding season I discovered that the left radiator had somehow been impacted from the front with enough force to flex the radiator back and crimp the inlet line against the frame as shown in the pic below. Notice that there is no notable damage to the guard itself. I've since replaced the Unabiker guards with Force Accessories guards, as shown in the 2nd pic, which are made of thicker aluminum and have integrated braces to prevent rearward flexing. According to my highly unscientific field testing the Force guards work great, but any radiator guard will give way if bashed hard enough.

  7. I built mine. 2 miles. One mile woods single track that leads into one mile of mx. Took me about 200 hrs to clear the single track and about 150 hrs on a 20 hp tractor with just a blade and rear scoop, for the mx side. Billions of shovel loads, smoothing and shaping. I also spent a fair amount of time building odd features on my single track.

  9. You should call MotoXotica. If I order a part in the morning, it'll be on my doorstep the next day. If they don't have it in stock, which is rare, they'll get it very quick and ship it to immediately. I'd be pissed off too, if I had to wait that long. I'm very impatient when it comes to waiting for parts for my bikes. Call Dan and Ann 707-446-4282. Rocky Mountain is good too but I'd prefer supporting the dealer that sold me the bike.

  12. For oem I text Steve at afterhourscycle and it shows up in a couple of days. If he doesn't have it, it is drop shipped from beta usa and that usually takes a week.

  15. Fortunately a lot of the damage is caused by retards that are too stupid to cover their tracks. A month ago I went for a run up behind the house and along one of the primitive dirt side roads there was a pile of household trash in trash bags. I took a look, animals had ripped open a couple bags. Laying right there on the ground was a bank statement with name and address, the fools lived like a mile away. I called the Sheriff's office, they sent a deputy out right away, he contacted the idiots and the mess was gone the next day.

  16. While that would be great, the other part of manhood includes taking care of my family. After I get off of my 10 hour shift building houses, I pick up my kid, we eat dinner as a family, my wife and I both help each other through baths and bed times, and then once that's over we have like an hour to hang out before we go to bed. Sometimes I use that hour to work on my bike, and sometimes I spend that time with my wife. I'm not sure what part of this should bring my manhood into question. Is it that I have questions about a task I've never done before, or that I'm an involved husband and father that prioritizes my family over my hobbies and I don't feel the need to hide out in the garage while my wife takes care of the rest? It's 2020 man, get over yourself.

  18. When I was diagnosed as prediabetic I learned about how interrelated all these things are. It's not just a calorie thing. Plant based offers a lot more fiber and a lot less saturated fat. Diabetes and insulin resistance cause complex changes that lead to weight gain and all kinds of downstream problems. Spiking glucose can screw up your insulin production, lipid plaque can distort how your cells reabsorb glucose. It's not about calories in and out. It's complex. If you want to deny that, fine. I consulted with two registered dieticians, one of whom is a nurse specialist in the diabetes department of my local hospital. I consider those people to be a lot more knowledgeable than anyone on this thread. Going plant based just solves a lot of problems easily. Eat all the sweet potatoes you want. There's no calorie counting. No limits. It's just so simple. I just get tired of people attacking me because I am not actively promoting the holy trinity of Blues, Brews and BBQ. Is plant based/vegan the only way? No, not at all, but for me it was the simplest. Just eat plants and stay away from processed foods and oil. So. Simple. I watched a couple of movies promoting the lifestyle but I also talked to dietitians and my doctor. I am a librarian so I looked a what I feel is vetted peer reviewed studies. I feel like I am informed. When a yahoo jumps up and calls me a beta male because I eat more kale than him I get upset. I took control of an out of control situation that threatened to kill me or make the rest of my life less fun. I'm proud of myself for this. I've got real blood test results that back up my claims. I want to be getting sick air off big hill climbs when I am sixty and still out on the ice in winter when I am 65.

  19. Bulletproof guards. I have had a number of guards/braces over the years from Devol/Works Performance/unabiker/etc and none of the "braces" have done much. The problem is this- the stamped braces and guards that are formed are typically 5052-h32, not "aircraft alloy" as most claim. It's a cheap commercial grade that is easy to stamp and form in a brake press. It also has very little memory to it, so they bend much easier than 6061-t6 would. 6061 is much more difficult to put tight radius bends into it without cracking, and is more expensive than 5052. So far, BPD guards have done very well, and have been consumer tested by the wife more times than I can count. radiators have not been damaged at all. TRUST ME, if someone can break bike parts, this woman can.

  20. I have experience with EE rad braces and they twisted on impact damaging the radiator. I since switched to Bulletproof guards and they are better but your posted picture will still happen. The best would be a brace for the sides on guards,,, this is the direction I am going to with my new bike. Custom side brace screwed to Bulletproof guards.

  21. You guys might think I am kidding. But I’m not. I am really serious about it and doing it on the 230. It is able to torque at a very low rpm and find traction. I will need to send the shock out to get it lowered a little as it got too tall with the extended swing arm when I changed to a 18” rear wheel on the BBR frame with CR85 swing arm. I had it lowered by Racetech once but it needs a little more. I need to be able to put my feet down when the shock is unloaded going down loose boulder rocky hills.

  22. That's awesome if it works for you without a case splitter, but personally I think it's been a great tool to have in my stock. I'd also recommend it to anyone looking to do a bottom end rebuild. I mean it's just so easy. It takes like 10 seconds to set up, and maybe a literal minute to get the cases split. Like you said, to each their own, but for me, the $60-70 for a case splitter is well worth the ease, convenience, peace of mind, and efficiency. Also, I love tools and going into a project with the right tools just feels good to me.

  23. I change mine every 15 minutes in case there is a surge from my flux capacitor that changes the overall viscosity and thermal loading of the oil. Also helps prevent thermal breakdown if my turn signal fluid gets low.

  33. I had a ‘14 350EXC and a ‘16 Husky 501FE at the same time. I took both bikes on the same trails, but alas, not at the same time :LOL: The ride consisted of tight, rocky single track and some open trails. All single track up in the mtns. The 350 would be less tiring as it was lighter and having less power made the on/off the gas into corners more manageable. It could handle the open sections just fine. But get out in the desert where there’s more sand on the single track and hillclimbs and the 350 becomes much more work.

  34. OP~ You mention you raced quads and have ridden dirtbikes. Well, that's a start. It also means you'll have a few bad habits that we'll have to break you of. Since you want to enter street riding, let's get you started right. That means....enrolling in a class to get proper instruction. This is imperative. After you successfully complete the course, THEN you start small. I'm not talking "600 sportbike" small, either. I'm talking 250/300cc small. If your friends only want you to have a sportbike (like them,) then there are sportbikes within this engine size class. (Personally, I wouldn't let my friends dictate what they think I should have/do, but hey, they're your friends.) It must be nice to have total control over somebody. Anyway, back to your bike shopping. If you get a 600 sportbike to start out with, you can expect your learning rate to be very slow. If all goes well, that is. You see, it's very hard to learn when you're scared. This is why we instructors usually like to see newbies on 250 cruisers. Those students learn at a much quicker rate than the newbie that goes out and buys a 'busa as a first bike. As state above, buy good gear AND USE IT ALWAYS.

  36. Yep, I told myself I would never buy from them again. A year went buy and I placed an order. Guess what??? 2 1/2 weeks for a part that was implied to be in stock. I might still be waiting for it if I didn't ask in an email about my order. That same email he was trying to sell me a FMF pipe guard for a PC pipe. Not worth it with hit and miss shipping. My go to accessories when not at the dealer is Rocky Mountain. Never a concern if I will receive my parts within a week (shipping from west). KY is their east warehouse and parts to my door many times within a day!

  42. When this comes up I always ask, what do you think a dealer should make on a bike sale? On a current model year bike with no deals from Beta they can only take off a few hundred. Does that really make a difference on a 10k bike? Personally I sell my Trials bikes for MSRP, no shipping or setup charges, so essentially I’m discounting it the price of shipping. Guys who buy new bikes every year I drop the price a little more. Funny thing is those guys NEVER ask for a discount, neither do my friends that I ride with on a weekly basis. It’s always the new guys shopping around who want a BRO deal.

If someone is really going to use weight as part of their buying decision they can do the 3rd grade math required to come to an educated decision.
