    FMF Racing Snap

    The FMF SNAP...how much of a difference can this small, stainless contraption possibly make? As it turns out, quite a bit actually! Like some others, I was really skeptical on how much difference it would actually make. I mean, the things we motorcyclists feel make the biggest difference usually comes either with a hefty price tag, is made out of some exotic material, or both. This is really neither, being made out of stainless steel and with a retail price of about a hundred dollars. Some could argue that for one hundred dollars, you could probably make a few of these in your garage. After testing it, it really is worth the money. To start off with, I installed the FMF Snap on a stock 2011 Honda CRF450R with a Yoshimura full stainless exhaust. The test track, Cahuilla MX in Anza California is fairly sandy with high speed straights and a mix of turns from tight and rutted to wide and fast. It also has a lot of elevation changes and some up hill jumps and whoops that taxes a bikes power. Those that have ridden or own a newer model MX bike that is fuel injected know that compared to it predecessors, it does lack that distinct "hit" that the older pumper carb'ed models do. Well, the FMF SNAP brings just what its namesake is back into the picture. After installation, the bike exhibited a much stronger pull from the bottom that was especially noticeable out of tight corners. With the added power, it also lets you get the bike a gear higher in most corners. I also tested the FMF SNAP at Pala Raceway with the same result. More pull out of tight corners and an over boost in the lower-end of the powerband. If you're missing the hit of your older CRF on your new EFI model or just need some more bottom-end then the FMF SNAP is just the ticket.

    Check out my thread on this I think that it's maybe the look you're going for. I use mine as a daily and really the only reason I hate fueling up is because it has a really large gas tank, so when it needs it its expensive

    Troy Lee Designs SE Pro Pant

    I've always been a big Troy Lee proponent up until recently when the colorways available were to say the least a bit out there. I like my gear clean and simple so when the SE Pro stuff came out I just had to try a set out. Usually Troy Lee stuff is pretty true to size, but it's always nice to be able to try it on before hand if you've never worn their stuff before. The great thing about TLD pants is that they are adjustable larger and smaller due to the velcro "belt" closures on each side of the pants. I wear around a 33 pant so the 34 was the size I purchased and it fits perfect there. I really like the "belt" and button closure as opposed to the ratchet style found on some other brands. Further down the pant the knees are really roomy. If you're wearing knee braces you should have no problem fitting them into these pants. They don't look horrible if you're just wearing knee cups like I am though, just slightly baggy. The one thing I have noticed on the newer Troy Lee pants is that they've gone longer with the leg length than in the past. With about a 30" inseam this poses a problem as I have to roll the pant up once so that I can put my boots on and not have a large amount of baggyness above them. Other than that they seems like the typical bulletproof TLD product. The white part of the pant washed clean after a couple rides so that bodes well for the long term colorfastness and look of these pants (I only use regular detergent and an oxyclean pack when laundering my gear). Pro's: Great colorways, typical great TLD longevity so far, great venting, fully sewn in liner Con's: Price could be a factor, long leg length compared to others

    I've always been a big Troy Lee proponent up until recently when the colorways available were to say the least a bit out there. I like my gear clean and simple so when the SE Pro stuff came out I just had to try a set out. Usually Troy Lee stuff is pretty true to size, but it's always nice to be able to try it on before hand if you've never worn their stuff before. I usually wear a medium t-shirt and the medium jersey fit just fine. If you like a bit more flap in your fit then a large is good too. The one thing that stood out with this particular jersey was the sleeves. They were tighter than I am used to, almost form fitting from the wrist to three quarters of the way up the sleeve. I don't have big arms by any means so if you have been lifting or have fairly large arms make sure you try one out before you buy. I however didn't notice this once riding. Otherwise, the usual TLD fit and finish is there as I would expect on their top of the line gear. There is a TLD logo on the tail that keeps the jersey tucked in and the venting is great. I've worn and washed it a couple times so far and colorfastness is good and it hasn't stained from dirt except the spot where my Leatt rubs it in which is white (that seems to be par for any jersey though unless you are running dark colors). Pro's: Great colorways, typical great TLD longevity so far, great venting. Con's: Price could be a factor, tight arm fit

    Yes spindle and blocks. Lift was fairly priced especially when you figure it included four Bilstein shocks and the thing needed them anyways. Rides a little rougher now but I'll take that over having it wallow all over the road like it did before.

    Try two backwards on each side and one forward I know that that works for sure and I don't have to rely on the door to hold tension on the bike.

    18" by 9" wheels with 285/70 18 Toyo Open country AT's. The wheels are 4.5" offset. Had to do some creative trimming but otherwise its all good. Also this is with a 3" boulder offroad lift. Can find them at www.boulderoffroadvans.com

    It's been good. Check out my thread if you want to see more pics. Took three bikes, gear, campin stuff and four people out to the dez for the weekend and still got 15.5 mpg (before the wheel and tire swap, but I'll have to figure out my mileage again). Worked great. Heard that you can find them really cheap at auto auctions, even so I picked that beauty up for 8500, not bad for an 08.

    Also when putting three bikes in the chevy I put two in backwards (one on each side with the handlebars turned so the wheel hits the back support pillar, and one bike in forwards cinched against the partition. You have to be creative putting the rest of the gear in, especially if you have large gearbags and don't want to put anything up front with the passengers but it all fits.

    just do this and you don't have to worry...chicks jump right in Mileage isn't too bad but the tank is huge so it costs a grip to fill up from empty

    Rear end gearing on van

    yeah that's exactly what I'm looking for. That motor doesn't seem to make good power way down low like where it is sitting when cruising in OD so I think it would be worth it to at least get it up into the 2000's. It seems to me that if it tach's 1700 at 70 (now 75 with the larger tires) and shifts at 4700 that i'll prob do 180mph if it wasnt governed and I dont need that. Might as well make it all usable.
