    Gloves...what are you guys wearing??

Not to be too arguementative but.....when I go down on pavement(1/2 dozen in 30yrs.) I never stick my hands out. Ever. I only wear top quality work gloves.

    Hindle midpipe issue

Needing to harvest the exhaust off of the touring DR650 to use on the bomber DR650 I ran into a spot of bother removing the Hindle midpipe......the darn mounting bolt just turns turns turns....seems the "teardrop" has broken off the nut. I'm guessing the only way to hold the nut now is with needle nose visegrips. Anyway, I'm just posting this as a heads up that this (broken nut) is possible. Maybe I shouldna used Loctite, I dunno. BTW, that Hindle pipe looks pretty cheesy next to the Two Brothers. There, now I feel better.

    1997 DR650 lack of power

My personal opinion? Number 1 would be a carb swap and airbox mod. Tons information on this site. Kientech Engineering and ProCycle are suppliers that come readily to mind. I think a search is in order. Good luck.

    1997 DR650 lack of power

A stock DR650 can seem pretty underwelming because it is. Fortunately there are cures for that. Easy cures. Hang around and watch the fur fly:busted: Welcome btw.

    Exhaust leak at head

That's what I was thinking.....the Permatex sight says it's good for 700 degrees, which from my understanding, would'nt be good enough. But then it also says it's good for exhaust manifolds. HMMMM. I think where the leak sneaks out is like a torch??

    Exhaust leak at head

    Fer sure?? For some reason I thought that wasn't possible:banghead: Hope you're right and I'm wrong. That's a first:ride:

    Exhaust leak at head

Thanx fellas, no, the header hasn't been ground but I'm going to go back in and check for crackness. If that's not it, I'm gonna try the double seals:thumbsup:

    Exhaust leak at head

I can't eliminate the pfft pfft pfft at the head. I can feel it on my hand. Tried new gaskets, different sequence of tightening all the mounting hardware. Still leaks. I'm gonna have to look for some kind of abberation in the head pipe sealing surface again but I haven't seen one yet. Any ideas greatly appreciated! DR650 btw......
