  2. hi guys what is the diffrence between 00 and 01 plastics on 250 2/stroke exc ? how do i know if my bikes an 00 or 01 model ? is there any way of checking my bike now as im still awaiting for my documents/log book to arrive in post/mail so i dont know if it is a 2000 or 2001 and desprate to order set of new plastics and was told 2001 plastics will not fit 2000 bike anyone ? cheers in advance

  4. gear box problem mate, i have just done it about 2 months ago and costs around £1000. problem is as thho you have some teeth missing on your sproket and it is slipping, fine in every other gear but only whe you get up ito 5th gear feels like fuel ,elec problem but its not it is the dogs o 5th and 3rd gear slipping out and it is a commen problem on wrs . either 5th gear or 3rd gear goes. do a search on here for 5th gear problems or 3rd gear problems as i posted some pics up to. its a very expencive full engine rebuild
  5. can you buy the bush`s from a dealer ? iv had many problems with mine and when i stripped it down the bush`s are about worn out just wunderd if you could buy them separate starter was runnig backwards whe i first got the bike so i slackend the 2 long bolts holding the starter together and rotated the center magnets around slightly and worked fine the correct way, its never bee the best of starters anyway so thought id strip it and clean this was when i relised the bushes were very worn and do need replacing but never got round to checking if you can buy them separate from the dealer anyone ? 03 modal by the way
  6. i was doing a h&hs and was past by some champioshhip guys in some woops flying they were and i mean flying, here i was going up an down up an down and was feeling very sick at the end of them so i thought next lap im gona try that , next lap i came up to them and thought oh well here goes didnt know what i was doing but here what the hell so started to nail it every thing was going great (look at me looking like a pro rider) hhalf way i sort of lost it and that was it bounced off every tree like a pin ball machine and ended up in a bush picked my self up dusted my self down checked nothing was broken then checked the bike every thing was ok, the sat gettig my breath back watched some more championship guys go past relising they were still acelarating all the way , relised where i had gone wrong thought id give it another go on the next lap came to them again and stopped ,looked at them in the distance and thought right here we go again 1st.... 2nd....3rd right we have just hit the first one going well still acelarateing 4th.......5th i was flat out o my wr450 with more still coming trees wizzig passed either side of me and nothing left on the throtal passing championship guys like they were stood still i had no option tha just to lean back hold on and hope for the best , i got to the end of them and survived well allmost ,couldnt stop for the next corner and went straight on up over a large berm (biggest air i have ever done in my life) ended up in some bushes where ii came to a stop thinking learnt that acelarate but not flat out< tryed it again next lap and worked a treat and felt great< its a case oof just having balls and just go for it
  7. iv just done this job last month if 3rd has gone then 5th needs replacing allso, parts you will need is full gasket kit, 3rd gear,5th gear, 3rd pinion, 5th pinion and make sure you chheck the selector forks for wear, bear in mind i waited 2 months for 3rd gear to arrive as it was on back order from factory so check on this with your dealer also let them know that there is a new modifyed 3rd gear out now last part numbers was 00-00 modifyed end numbers are 10-00 5BF-17251-00-00 GEAR, 5TH WHEEL (21T) 5TJ-17231-10-00 GEAR, 3RD WHEEL (21T) changed from 00-00 to 10-00 5TJ-17151-00-00 GEAR, 5TH PINION (25T) 5TJ-17131-00-00 GEAR, 3RD PINION (16T) if you do a search on 5th gear there is some pics i posted
  8. my wr 450 has electic start for what good it is, if its not slipping or the starter motor slow to turn the engine over its cra.p even when it does spin the motor over there is a 1 in 10 times it will start the bike, me an me mates even laughh about it now if it starts of the button. iv had new starter motor and starter clutch, worked ok for about a week,well 2 ride outs anyway in thhe week stick with your kickstart or you would just be waisting money in my opinion anyway

  10. plates have stuck together, simple job just pull the clutch cover off and remove your clutch plates ,scuff them up with bit of wet an dry,not sure what you call it in the states and refit them ,it will be fine had this before many a time allso if you park your bike up again for a long time allways push your brake pistons back so your pads dont stick to your discs
  11. my situation allso update dealer phoned this morning 2 gears pluss selectors have arrived but...........the other 2 gears are on back order ffs i knew somthing like this would happen yet i was stood next to him when he was on the yamaha dealer internet ordering thing and all parts said in stock when he orderd when i asked him today when i could expect them he said anything from 1 day to 3 month as you can imagen im well foooked off right now and the other half is getting it all ,she dernt speak bless her but its her fault...... its allways her fault

  13. update: right my new parts have been orderd today with yamaha £377 thats 5th gear, 3rd gear, 5th pinion, 3rd pinion, selector 2 and 3 (tips were worn on closer inspection) full engine gasket set £107 , full seal kit £37.50 £377.00 £107.00 £37.50 total excluding oils/filters/fluids ect £521.50 (about $900-$1000 i think) labour free (im doing it my self ) so the total here in the uk guys this is what it will cost ya if your doing it your self , the good news is ,parts will be here by next tuesday as there coming from holland as its uk`s main yamaha store (aparently:excuseme: )
