My woods weapon of choice. Street legal for trail connectors here in Michigan.

  3. I run the KTM plastic wrap around guards on my 300EXC. I consider them a consumable. I've broken one in a hefty tree encounter... no hand damage. The plastic guards are more sculpted and are far less likely to get a hand/arm trapped inside. So is there some risk in getting hands/arms trapped in them? Of course... but it is far less than the risk of hand injuries caused by not using them.

    Suzuki DR650SE 1999

The do everything machine. No MX bike but certainly can be trail rode during adventure tours. Comfortable at freeway speeds or just around town riding. A blast in the twisties as well.

    what the heck is this?

Yes it does. The buyer must be aware of what they are purchasing other than by the title description. A lot of sellers use keywords that have squat to do with what they are peddling off.

    Drive Chain Question

Pretty much any machine that is street licensed will have a rubber cushioned rear drive sprocket assembly... at least most dirt oriented machines anyway. Your rubber cush bumpers need to be replaced in the hub....

    what the heck is this?

That is a two-stroke carb... see the "air screw" pilot circuit adjuster behind the slide? On four-stroke carbs the pilot screw is more of a fuel screw than an air screw (in for lean out for rich) and is located in front of the slide. You don't want to put this on your four-stroke... not that you couldn't get it to work but it would be a pain getting it jetted even close and there is no accelerator pump.

    Keihin 39mm FCR-MX Install, DR650

Are you speaking of the OEM YFZ450 carb not fitting the DRZ400? TT sells FCR-MX kits using an after-market FCR-MX for the DRZ400. If the TPS housing on the left side of the YFZ450 carb is the issue you could look for one of the KTM450/525 FCR-MX carbs that still have the ACV circuit for decel pop reduction. They do not have the big TPS housing....

    Newbie Chain Question

Yes, it's normal on a thumper. Have you removed and thrown away your upper chain roller? If not do so right now! Either locktite a short 8mm set screw level with the face of the threaded boss on the frame or fill it with silicone to prevent water from entering and rusting.

    just stole a pumper!

Unless you are way up there in elevation... like well over 5k all the time the EMR needle will likely be too lean. Depending on your elevation you may need a small main though. It does not hurt to have extra jetting though if you know you are going to be changing elevations quite a bit. But even my std v 2.5 jetting works very well at higher elevations... you'd just want to lean it out some if that is all you ever rode.

You beat me out of that one.... and did very well indeed. My web site lists all of the parts you will need on the 14th page of the install presentation. Being that you bought a 05 YFZ450 carb it will already have the #100 pilot air jet. You will need an air boot adapter ( Info on my web site) and all of the components in the "mxrob basic jetting kit" plus a Merge Racing APS spring from Procycle. I also highly recommend an extended pilot screw also available from Procycle.
