    06 450 valves

Purchased a good used 06 crf450 I'm getting ready to do a top end and valves, Does this bike have titanium valves stock?

    anodizing hubs

There's really no need to polish them if you apply a base coat of silver or gold first. All I do is smooth out any casting marks, and bead blast them.

    anodizing hubs

Sorry I don't have any good pics of the candy red. Candy red is translucent it can be done with one coat but it is inconsistent in color unless you coat it with a base color first. I do it myself, so the cost isn't a big issue. You can even had some metalflake.

    anodizing hubs

You can Powdercoat them with a translucent candy apple red over either a gold or silver. I've done several and they looked great.

Thanks Jimbo sounds like some useful info.

    08 CRF250R Hard to Start!

I agree about the main not helping the starting issue, I was going to drop down the main because of the black soot in the exhaust and leave it alone and see if it gets better after we ride a little longer. I may play with the pilot and try going up another size.

    08 CRF250R Hard to Start!

I checked the valves, Intake is right on the money .005 exhausts were .009, .010. I do notice the pipe has black soot like it is running rich I may drop down on the main and see what happens.

    08 CRF250R Hard to Start!

A friend and both purchased 250's at the same time and both bikes are very hard to start. I'll check the valve clearance tonight but I find it hard to believe thw clearance could be off in both bikes with less than 10 hrs on them.

    08 CRF250R Hard to Start!

My son has the exact same problem. I have a crf450, starts first 2-3 kicks, my son had a crf150r always started first 2-3 kicks but this 08 250 just will not start very easily. I've changed the pilot jet to a 45 and it helped a little. My son was way out in front at a race this past weekend and killed it and ended up with a dnf. I know that's the way 4 strokes are but we never had a problem with previous 4 strokes.

    New for 2008

My son just came off a CRF150r and I must say the 08 crf250 runs great once we get it started. His sucks to start cold and we have a friend that got one the same time we did and his is the same way. I've gone up to a 45 pilot and it seemed to help a little. He never had starting issues with his 150, once I get the hard starting issue figured out it will be an awesome bike.

    Powder Coating Frames

Powdercoat is not indestructable it will eventually wear off. I've found that the flat, satin and textured finishes hold up the best.

    Powder Coating Frames

I've done a few frames and hub and before I coated the hub I found a drill bit the same size as the spoke, I have had to ream a couple holes but for the most part never had a problem. I do tape off bearing, mounting flanges etc, if you don't you will have problems

Cam And Piston Upgrade , Which Pipe???

I have a Yoshimura pipe on my sons bike with a Stage 2 hotcam, JE hc piston kibblewhite valves and springs and he is very happy with the pipe, it made a noticable difference in the power delivery. I'm sure the MRD is a great pipe, you would think they own this website with has much advertisement they get here.

Post some pictures of your 150!

Thanks for the compliments, Decalworks did the graphics, I added a JE 12.5 to 1 piston, kibblewhite valves and springs with a stage 2 hot cam (installed when it was new) and the bike runs as good as it looks. A gold chain and new sprockets are sitting in the toolbox waiting to be put on. I thought about the spring but I wasn't sure what 400 degrees for 15 minutes might do to it.
