FOR SALE: Kientech DR valve adjusting tool kit

    Sold and shipped. Thanks.
  2. SPF I bought this way back when (2006???) for my DR650, but ended up selling the bike before using the gauges. Anyway, you can have them for $15 shipped. Here's a link to where I bought the kit: http://www.kientech.com/ValveAdjustingToolKit.htm Thanks, Shawn

    Am I THICK?, Re: Springs

Hey, that's not bad, considering it's my memory. I was only off by $30 total.

One more vote for the Raptor, not that I'm biased or anything.

    Am I THICK?, Re: Springs

It's been a while, but I recall something like $120 for the front forks and $80 for the rear. I could be off a bit, but the prices are pretty reasonable, I thought. Shawn

Surfing the Dunes on your DR650?

I never tried going up any steep dunes. I stayed down on the rolling dunes as there was no way I'd make it up the large ones without hitting unrealistic speeds so as to maintain momentum due to lack of traction. The front end digs in and it get heavy really quickly. Let me put it this way. It was scary enough that I never took it back to the dunes.

Surfing the Dunes on your DR650?

I took my 1990 DR650 to the Glamis dunes. It was lacking a paddle tire though. Lets just say that without a paddle tire the DR650 is not a dune bike. It's too heavy to start from a stop without a lot of foot work to help it along. I think that once you got moving you'd be fine with a paddle though. I have a picture on my bike at the dunes around somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up. Shawn

    Sold the DR650

That's must be someone else or my memory is worse than I already know it is.

    Sold the DR650

It's mostly sand around here in SW Arizona. I decided to try out an ATV and found my niche. For sandy washes and dunes, where I really like riding, an ATV is just so well suited. I bought an '08 Yamaha Raptor 700R SE. It's a big single, so it's still a Thumper! It is fuel injected, so elevation and temperature changes are irrelevant. Anyway, Its well on its way to being farkled already.

    Sold the DR650

I finally sold the bike. It's been great learning from all you guys here. Thanks for all your input, suggestions and great stories from time to time. Take care everyone. Shawn

2007 DR650 barely runs all of a sudden...

That's what I'm leaning toward at this point also. I hope it's burned up and out the tail pipe now.

2007 DR650 barely runs all of a sudden...

The smog junk came off after my first ride. I bought the bike in CA, so it came with the canister.

2007 DR650 barely runs all of a sudden...

I just pulled a plug and it's pretty black, but not wet. I then pulled the fuel line off the carb and fuel flows freely. I then started up the bike and it's running great again. I have no idea what is going on. It idles, revs, etc. just like nothing was ever wrong. ??????????? The way the bike was running when I shut it down could easily explain the black plugs, so I'll check them again after running it for awhile longer.
