    Suzuki DR-Z400S 2007

It's been an AWESOME bike. I put most of the miles on it within the first 4 years. Bought it new & it's not given me any trouble... Only wish it had a 6th gear.

  4. Your bike looks nice with those full side plate decals, but I'm wondering why you didn't just buy the "Black" side plates for $58 a set? The white outline does add a nice touch to them that the solid black plates wouldn't offer...

    DRZ Homemade $4.00 mirrors

I prefer mine on the inside of the grips. Kinda hard to see directly behind me, but who looks behind anyway?

    DR650 vs. DRZ400

I believe that top speed for my "S" was 95mph (on flat gravel, full knobbies). I changed-out the rear sprocket (larger) and now top speed is around 87mph. Much prefer the slower speed for the ability to climb better. Pretty wild feeling the "floating" sensation at high speeds on gravel. Practically no traction at all... but still under control (for the most part). Alot of factors determine top speed. Fuel octane, tire tread, tire pressure, elevation, temperature, wind conditions, road surface, rider weight, air filter cleanliness, spark plug condition... I'll stop there, but the list goes much farther.
  7. $1200 for approx. 12 more HP = $100 per Xtra Pony You can get probably ½ that HP bump for a few hundred. The way I look @ it, you'll have $6k in a six year old bike. If you plan to keep it, it's probably worth it. Otherwise it isn't.

    Smokin deal! Don't be jealous

I only paid $4800 OTD for my brand new 2007 "S" (back in '07). Suppose all the extras add up though. I'd feel lucky to get $3k for mine right now. It has over 15k miles on it, but still looks almost new. No, I don't want to sell it... Hey, if you feel that you got a good deal, then you did. That's all that matters!

    hitch mount bike carrier

I'm kinda gun shy after busting-out my rear window already with my mtn.bike. Insurance covered most, but I still had a $100 deductible... The handlebar pushed into the window after the bicycle tires touched the ground & pivoted the bar into the window. (I was barely off-road going thru a ditch) I didn't think it was that big of a deal until the window just exploded...

Why Do Posters Blur License Numbers?

Might be that way here in NC, but it happened to a work buddy of mine in GA It was an older Ford p/u too... Some or most keys now have a "chip" in the fob.
  13. Just dawned on me to start a thread about things you DON'T like about your DR-Z and maybe someone else has found a remedy... I really, really wish the DR-Z would've come equipped with a 6-speed. Seems it has plenty of power for it, and would help keep vibrations down at top speeds.

Why Do Posters Blur License Numbers?

Call me paranoid if you want, but I actually have a piece of black electrical tape covering my VIN on my vehicle's dash. That prevents a thief from taking that number to the local Chevy-Ford-Nissan-Dodge dealer and getting a new key... Seen it happen...

    Thanks to all of you

Nice bike man! I wish the black would've been available back in '07. I settled for the blue (which I hear is actually the fastest color)
