    2001 YZ426 Vs. 2005 Banshee (stock)

you guys should race on pavement. i think the 426 would still win. just haven more bottom end would make a big diff. even though the bike weighs almost half as much. ive seen banshees race mustangs and stuff and the banshees schooled them off the start, **** those twins were gone. but ya i think pavement would be a little more competitive, taking into consideration traction. i sure the 426 would still spin slightly but you never know, that torque could put you on your ass iff your not on the god damn front fender haha. have fun!
  2. i need anything at all that could cause a lean situation. thanks for any suggestions shane

    450 exhaust

alright ill check it out. btw, not riding in a closed course just out in the bush, trails and stuff, well actually ya about 50% will be on a track.

    450 exhaust

ya those are pretty pricey. i think if im gonna pay that much im gonna go for the most power. i don't think sound is worth that much.

    top speed of YZF's

ive gotten 2 winters and a summer out mine so far, still runnen strong. like i said a sled may not be that accurate at all but i did 5 runs and they were all around 140. i even rode the guys sled ad he was on my bike because i didn't believe him the first 2 times. it was 140, 135 140 140 135. but give or take 10 kmh.

    top speed of 450

just curious as to the average top speed of a crf 450. i plan on buying a new 450 but want something real fast for the winter. i currently own a yz400, i clocked it on the river at 140 kph by a sled, not the most accurate so give or take 10 kph. is there there a big diff. between the blue 4 speed or red 5 speed for anyone thats riden or owed both. thanks shane

    top speed of YZF's

well i clocked my yz400f today on the river on the sled drag strip at 140 kph. it was a sled that clocked my speed, not the most accurate but thats the only way i could find out. so im given it about 10 kph either way. ive pretty much got stock jetting, just the jd needle and bigger main, TA pipe, twin filter, 03 exhaust cam. those are the mods just for the record. of course tires are studded up. whats the average top speed of a yz450? i plan on upgrading to one but i want a fast bike for the winter. for anyone with both blue and red experience, is there a big diff. between the 4 speed and 5 speed, power delivery and top speed. thanks shane

    450 exhaust

whats the loudest and best sounding exhaust available for the 450. ive got a thunder alley on my 400 and every one says it sounds like an airplane taking off, thats pretty loud. im gonna upgrade to a blue or red 450, probably blue. and i want a awesome sounding loud pipe. i don't care to much for the power, a 450 is gonna kick my ass anyway. thanks shane

    carburation! on a 2 stroke??

haha damn i screwed up that last post too. but anyway, yes about 85% is wide open. were i live theres a few diff. large rivers so were on those wuite a bit. and at this time of year the trails are real smooth, no mud obviously, so you can go wide open everywhere. im not to sure how he rides his own bike but when i test rode it for a day i was pinned everywhere, on and off, i wanted to get a good reading so i rode it pretty hard. im starten to think hid exhasut leak is pasrt of the prob. my 400 is jetted almost spot on but leaks where the header and the pipe join, im pretty sure thats whats making my plug white.

    carburation! on a 2 stroke??

oh shit..sorry i screwed up...i didn't change the main 13 sizes. i change them 8 sizes. i owe a yz so i positive they go like this, 175 178 180 182 185 188 190 192 195. i was doin it in my head before i think i was high, so kids don't smoke cheeba, this was an example of what it can do. i did notice that after the last ride he has a large crack in his pipe, about 60 inches from the cylinder. the was a minute crack there before that i saw but it is now about 20 times the size. thanks shane

    Does the YZ450f?

ive owned a yzf400 for a while now i love it. right now its winter so im riding on snow and ice with studded tires. i just finished settin up my buddys 03 yz 250 for the winter and took it for a rip. ya the bike rips and the power is great when its there, but you have to be in the powerband to be able to do anything with it. you can't lug it around because theres no power, you gotta be in the right gear at the right time. right after that ride i hoped on my 400 and that is a very big difference. the power starts the sec you let the clutch out. and if you decide not to down shift for a corner or anything at all, you can lug it and the power is right there. ive also riden both bike back to back on dirt, the 250 rips but comparing to a 400 a few years older, the 400 feels like it wants to pull your arms off. the power is real diff. but better. now your comparing the yz 450 to 250. ive riden a crf 450 and i could jsut imagine how hard the yz pulls. im sure the 4 stroke power is a bigger rush then the 2 stroke power. i know the next bike im buyen is a yz450.

    106 mph on the trail!!

yeah that was time not well wasted. that is definately not 106 mph nor kph. although it can be tough watchen from a video but still, maybe 70kph at max but probably not even close to that.
  13. well this is about an 03 yz 250. we jetted my buddys bike for the winter, -5 - -20 degrees celcius. so far everything is stock. except the main jet and needle setting. went from a 175 main to a 180, still lean. went to a 185, still lean. went to a 190 and raised the needle one clip, still lean. went to a 195, still lean. now after every hard ride ive checked the plug. and the porcelin part is white, new plug every time. from what i was told, to jet a bike for the winter you should only need to change the main 1 or 2 sizes, so from a 175 to a 178 or 180, and maybe raise the needle one notch. now ive changed the main 13 sizes and raised the needle one clip and the plug is still white. does this mean there could possibily be an air leak on the intake side. im pretty stumped on what to do next. we were gonna try messen with the air screw. out for more air(lean), in for less(rich), does that make sence? he did the crash the bike pretty hard last time he rode it, summer about 3 or 4 months ago. thanks for any help shane

    carburation! on a 2 stoke?

well this is actually about an 03 yz 250 carburator. we jetted my buddys bike for the winter, -5 - -20 degrees celcius. so far everything is stock. except the main jet and needle setting. went from a 175 main to a 180, still lean. went to a 185, still lean. went to a 190 and raised the needle one clip, still lean. went to a 195, still lean. now after every hard ride ive checked the plug. and the porcelin part is white, new plug every time. from what i was told, to jet a bike for the winter you should only need to change the main 1 or 2 sizes, so from a 175 to a 178 or 180, and maybe raise the needle one notch. now ive changed the main 13 sizes and raised the needle one clip and the plug is still white. does this mean there could possibily be an air leak on the intake side. im pretty stumped on what to do next. we were gonna try messen with the air screw. out for more air(lean), in for less(rich), does that make sence? he did the crash the bike pretty hard last time he rode it, summer about 3 or 4 months ago. thanks for any help shane

    yz400f running lean

ive got a yz400f that was running really good up untill a couple of rides ago. out of no where it just started running lean according to the colour of the plug. i torn it down and i found that i have an exhaust leak where the header connects to the pipe. im basically wondering if a lean situation caused by an exaust leak will do damage to the engine? thanks shane
