i've got real weak spark on a 1985 XR600R. she's got a new plug and ignition coil so it's down to the CDI and/or stator. question is, how do i test either unit, or is there a way to know which it is for sure without buying new units? EDIT - also looking for a parts XR600, running or not jeremiah

Thinking about buying a Chinese bike?

Is that why I see wal-mart packed with white collar types, eating their caviar and sipping white wine?

help re-open thurston county ORV park

this was posted earlier today by dirtcheapjohn over at KTMtalk. We are helping to re-open the Thurston Grays Harbor ORV Sports Park, located 15 miles west of Olympia Washington or 2 miles east of McCleary on Highway 8. The park is located exactly on the county line, that is how the park got it's original name as it "straddles" the line. Take Cooper Road, approx 200 yards east of the county line signs, the park is to the south, you can see it from Highway 8, as of now there is no park sign. Volunteer Work Parties are 8AM till dark, this Sat and Sun, OCT 1st and 2nd. Please bring any equipment you have such as weed wackers, lawn mowers, chainsaws, brush hogs, etc. You may contact me to sign up for the work party. HISTORY: Thurston Grays Harbor ORV Sports Park, which operated privately as Straddle line from 1970 to 1977 and as the Sports Park since 1978 was closed Nov 30, 2002, the park has a non-conforming land use status. The grandfather expires 3 years after closure or this Nov 30th. To keep the non-conforming land use status we must operate the park for 1 month. Our first event is scheduled for Oct 8. Thurston Co signed a quit claim deed for their part of the park to Grays Harbor Co last week. Commissioner Bob Beerbower - Grays Harbor Co, Tom Fite - park manager, Ed Bushnell -AMA, Angie Merek - Moonshiners 4X4 club, myself and others have been working on getting this park re-opened. We had 50 volunteers on Sat Sept 24 and about 35 on Sun the 25th, we got much accomplished, but there is still much to do. Please help us keep this park open by meeting the 30 day requirement for the non-conforming land use. This is a multi-use park, for motorcycles, quads, jeeps, 4X4s, with motocross, flattrack, drags, obstacle course, and trails... It is also a major trail head for the Capitol Forest. I would also be interested in help with a peewee beginer poker run on the weekend of Oct 29, 30. Thank you, John Eaton dirtbike@hctc.com 360-427-3478

    1993 XR600R cutting out

my bike starts easy, and runs good, but she trips in the higher RPM range. i don't know if this is a new problem because i so rarely get over 1/2 throttle. i've checked the usual suspects: air filter, spark plug, exhaust, and they seem fine. the carb is clean and working properly though a re-jet seems to be in order. where should i start looking for the problem?

  11. i'm currently hunting for a SRW F-350 crew cab and i started thinking about some light RVing along with riding because there's tons of riding around me that is just too far for a day trip but would be perfect for a weekend. i think my ideal set up for this would be a slide in camper and a trailer for the bikes. however, slide ins are quite heavy and can be very unwieldy so i occured to me that for the same money (possibly less) i could get a smallish bumper pull RV and just load the bikes in the bed. i still like my original idea best but i'm wondering if anyone has had either (or both) set ups and what you liked or didn't like. anyone?

Products you will never buy again?

do tell. i've been very pleased with my husky tools.

oh boy oberto beefy jerky. it just doesn't taste good. ground coffee in a can. it just doesn't taste good. arco/BP gasolene. there's a reason it's $.10 cheaper than chevron/texaco any album by any band with the word "head," a fruit or vegetable, a number, or the word "box" in their name. those bands, as a rule, suck ass. golden spectro. it cost as much as the most expensive full synthetics and it burns dirty. PJ1 spray on foam filter oil. it dries and it costs the same as a bottle of bel-ray which will coat 10x the number of filters. expensive sun glasses. who cares how good they work or how cool they look if i can't find them? any jim carey movie. the guy is an unfunny fag

    How far have you jumped?

    jumping is gay

Best way to clean air filter?

true, but it burns good and makes a first rate weed killer
  16. beer_studd_76

Best way to clean air filter?

anyone who tell you not to use gas is trying to sell you something
  17. beer_studd_76

Best way to clean air filter?

it might, but i've got several filters that have 15+ cleanings on them and they're fine.
  18. beer_studd_76

Best way to clean air filter?

    1) let it soak in a bucket of gasoline for 10-15 minutes 2) agitate occasionally 3) remove and hang to dry diesel or kerosene works very well to get filters clean, but then you have you use another solvent to get the diesel or kerosene out, so i just go straight to gas.

    Which would you prefer?

let me rephrase that: if they'd been making one from 95-98 i'd buy one. i just cannot see a $600 truck payment. just out of curiousity, will they have it in a crew cab configuration?

best set up for weekends and short trips

i don't camp. i like waking up dry. i hate sleeping on the gound. i like AC. a tent is completely out of the question.

is that a slide in or a trailer?

    American or Foreign

the UAW has tons of members working in AMERICAN plants building FORIEGN cars. what does "giving a shit about america" have to do with anything?
  23. beer_studd_76

    American or Foreign

that question doesn't matter. a better question is what do you need your truck to do. if you haul or tow heavy then there are no foriegn trucks to consider (unless you count the canadian and mexican made "american" trucks).
  24. beer_studd_76

    Which would you prefer?

if toyota made a true full sized truck with a modern turbo diesel i'd probably buy one.

Crew Cab Long or Short Bed ?

ditto. CC short beds look especially goofy. IMO, short beds are desireable only if it's primarily a tow vehicle, and i mean towing 50% or more of the time.
