    96-2010 DR650 GSXR1000 Muffler install....

Here are several reasons that I switched: 1- the GSXR can is about the same size as the factory can, but when you go to that system over the stock you loose about 8-9 lbs off the bike. 2- performance- you get the flow needed for an open arbox and jetted carb, or even a pumper 3- NO REPACKING!- with the other systems you have to repack the can. On the GSXR you do not, and since most of us put a bunch of miles on the DR it is one less thing to have to screw with. 4- Cost- I have a total of $150 in my system. This includes the mid-pipe and the GSXR can I bought off ebay. So I am half the price of the aftermarket systems made for my bike Hope this helps.

    Dr 650 clutch slipping

The bike is an '08 and has right at 10,00 mi. I just adjusted the cable, but it has been raining so I haven't had a chance to ride it. I will keep posted how it turns out.

    Dr 650 clutch slipping

I have replaced serveral clutches on other bikes, so replacing isn't that big of a deal. I was more curious if someone has had a similar issue, or if these clutches are usually toast after 8-10,000 mi? I did the adjustment las night using the slide nuts on the cable. I will ride it tonight and see how she does. Thanks for all the help guys.

    Dr 650 clutch slipping

Clutch Slipping Hey guys, This weekend I noticed at WOT the clutch was slipping. I have never noticed a problem before, and had adjusted the clutch at the lever a day or tow ago. The bike has almost 10,000 mi on it. Is it possible it needs a clutch already? I make it a habit never to ride the clutch it is all on or all off. Any thoughts?

    Transporting extra gas

I like using the Aluminum camp stove bottles. A couple of them will fit in a camel bak backpack and when emptied at the trail head are really light weight. Plus you don't have to worry about puncture or leaking. I found a few posts up that this was recommended. so +1 on the AL bottles.

I have kind of a stupid question. I have the GSXR pipe on my bike, going to do some riding at a National Forest in a few weeks. I know many of you have put a spark arestor in the can but how do they know it is not approved from the factory? The stock exhuast has no screen on the back, I was just curious. Don't want to get into any trouble, but don't want to spend money for no reason either. Most of my riding this far has been on gravel roads and private trails. So it hasn't even been a thought.

    Drilling carb

If all you are wanting to do is change the mixture then simply turn the carb upside down. Look for a tiny brass plug/cap that is towards the front of the carb when mounted on the bike. and centered left to right. Drill with avery small bit. then insert a small sheet metal screw in the hole and use pliers to pull out the plug. if you drill too deep you are "screwed". No pun intended.

Ben, The FCR is on the list but a little further down the road. My wife is supposed to go see her friend in Clarksville some time this summer. I am thinking of bringing my bike along. If I get to I will give you a shout and hopefully we can go ride. Thanks again for the help.
