  1. Hello to you all, I am about to replace the fork seals in my 450EXC as they have been leaking for a while now. I have tried to cleaned them with a film strip and WD40 but they are still leaking. I am a bit dubious about doing this myself as this is new territory for me. Does anyone have or know where I can find detailed instructions for completing this task? Also: how much oil do you put in / how do you measure it? Do you have to use a seal fitting tool?
  2. I can't find them. Is this the singer?

    13/52 gearing on 400

Just got my bike and it came with a spare sprocket / chain set. The 13-52 makes it a lot easier to get up those hills.
  5. Does anyone know where I can get some pics (to use as wallpaper) of a KTM 450 EXC with a girl in the shot?

    Orange v's Blue

I have added the following post to the WR forum: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1382506/page/0/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1 A lot of guys are telling me that the KTM is a maintenance nightmare and that it is unreliable compared to the WR. Is this the case or are they just biased? Do you have to adjust the valves more frequently on a KTM.

    Trading Blue for Orange

What additional maintenance do you have to do on a KTM? Do you have to adjust the valves more frequently? There seems to be a lot more posts relating to problems with the WR compared to the KTM?

    Trading Blue for Orange

    My local dealer has 1 2004 400exc and lots of 2005 450exc. The 2004 400 is £500 less.

    Trading Blue for Orange

My WR is going to the dealer (for good this time). I'm going to trade it in for a 2004 400exc. The KTM seems like the most suitable bike for me. The magic button is going to make life a lot easier. I will not miss the top heavy feel of the WR (I am missing the bike already though). Not sure if I should be buying the 2004 WR450 (better the devil you know and all that). I have had many problems with my 1998 WR which have all finally been resolved with help from you guys. Now that the bike is in order I think it is best to let it go before anything else goes wrong.

    PLEASE HELP!!

My bike had similar symptoms due to the slide plate being cracked. Are the revs hanging high at all? I would suggest that you pull the slide plate and check it for cracks. See the following thread: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB3&Number=1084567&fpart=&PHPSESSID=
  11. Is the slide plate from a 1998 YZ400 the same as a 1998 WR400F If I fit the YZ400 carb to my WR400 do I need to block any holes or fit any addition tubes like you do when de-octopusing

    Quick release seat

Can I get an aftermaket quick release system for my seat (to replace the two stock bolts). If so, where can I get it?
